Bama's schedule run down!!

Here's my guess on what they'll do:

10 should be wins with 2 toss up games with Arky and LSU. I have a feeling they'll beat LSU and lose to Arky(just a gut feeling). So they should go 11-1. What do you guys think?

  1. As you know from comments in the pre ranking post last year, I have a hard time giving a team with a new QB in the SEC more than 9 wins, especially when they lost their best two offensive weapons. So my prediction is 9 wins.

  2. Well I never even think about Bama's offense when predicting W's and L's. They are defensive minded and win that way. That's how they've done it in the past and will continue to do that as long as Saban is there. Pound it down your throat and play hard as hell D. They'll play conservative on O and it doesn't take an All World QB to do that.

  3. @ Penn State , Arky at home, and At Fla for 3 of the first 5 games with a new QB... then after that they just have to play LSU, At Miss State, and then go to Auburn who I'll say it since no one else will... But I can tell 1 person that has gone toe to toe with the Sabanator and out coached him both times is the Chizz. I think this team could win 11 games but i would go with 9 or 10 before I went w/ 11.

  4. Reese. I mostly agree with that comment but every team in the sec (that will be contending) has a good defense usually the team with the best balance of both wins the conference and I think Bama's O will leave a lot to be desired this year. Joe I didn't want to say but I am glad you brought that up. Saban has not yet led me to believe the Chizz is scared of his all mighty glory. Chizz almost beatnhim at AU two years ago with no depth and FAR inferior team so I don't think Bammers or their best friends at ESPN can count that one an automatic W.

  5. and i want to say another thing about Nick Saban... I believe that he WAS the most intimidating College football coach since the Ole Ball Coach in the 90's.. but if you look at the other coaches in the west.. I don't think he scares them anymore. I think Les, Bobby, and Gene are just as good coaches as Nick is and the biggest thing is that I think that those other guys have convinced their teams that they are just as good coach as him.

  6. As good as Saban is on the defensive side of the ball, Petrino is even better on the offensive side.

  7. I have tons of respect for Saban's coaching ability but I have said for years if players believe that Saban is not tons better than Gene, Bobby, or Les then why go break your back to play for an ass hole when there are plenty of great coaches in the SEC players love to play for? I think we are seeing that a little bit now and I think that trend will continue.

  8. One of Bama's biggest problems is also what makes them great and that is the expectations of the fan base. I think we should all be very thankful we don't have the type of expectations that a Bamar has but in the same breath be jealous. Nick Saban is a great coach and a Defensive master mind but anybody that blows a 24 point lead at home to their in-state rival isn't head and shoulders above anybody. Still may be the best coach in the SEC but after your team is part of one of the most embarrassing chokes in recent history... its hard for me to pick them to win the West the following year.

  9. Joe I dont think you should be allowed to comment on any coach in the SEC. The East is as down as it has ever been and if UGA cant win now they will never win.

As far as Bama goes if I recall correctly in 2009 they won a National Championship with a first year QB, so that is not an argument. Also they have the same schedule they had in 2009 and maybe the best defense Alabama has EVER had. I will take 11-1, because a 1 lose SEC team still plays for the National Championship.

  10. Jody, do you mean to tell me you didn't have an opinion when yall had Mike Dubose?? or Franchionie? Or Mike Price? Yes, you did. you were just as much of an opinionated as you are now. But if this is the case then I guess we will not be hearing anything out of you when we talk any NFL should we??

  11. Jody you do recall correctly but let's use a little logic every year you have a new starting QB are planning to win the national championship? If you are not then yes that is an argument. So in 2009 Alabama had the best D EVER the smartest QB in College, a Heisman running back and the same schedule. Losing all that plus everyone on that schedule being more talented (with the exception of UF) than they were in 2009 translate to one loss. They could do it but the for the reasons listed above my opinion is that they don't.

  12. Joe I have always had a very strong opinion. I will go ahead and tell you that the Cowboys will win it all this year.

Brad I know it is not likely to win a National Championship any year and espicially with a first year QB, but it does happen. I never said the 2009 D was the best, I have said and will continue to say that the 1992 D was the best, until proven other wise.

I do not see everyone being more talented than the 2009 opponents, ie. Tenn, Penn St and Ol Miss.

We are less than 2 months away so the blog should start getting fun.

Oh yeah Joe, Go to Hell. Roll Tide...

  13. to hell Jody's argument - i do think that everyone will agree that Bama would be the least affected team by a new QB... Richardson will be a good RB but Ingram along with McFadden were the best RB's I have seen in 10 or so years. Julio is the name that nobody is talking about... Why do think Atlanta with one of the smartest GM's in the business gave traded 8,000 picks away to get him?? because he is a freak of nature. No way they have someone that will get the attention that he did so Richardson is going to be running against a different D. The offense is going to be pretty weak... and until i see someone fill rolando's shoes.. then I can't pick em to win more than 9 ball games.
