Quick Question

Paul “PJ” Johnson made an interesting comment the other day.  A commitment that PJ had went on  a visit to FSU and Paul took his offer off the table..  said something about commitment this and commitment that blah blah blah we hold that word in high regard blah blah blah.  At first I thought, you know, that's pretty damn cool.  I always have liked PJ and thought it was honorable for someone that has that much convection on commitment.

But then today Barron Dixon, who has been a long time Miss State commit, switched to Vandy…  what the hell does this have to do with PJ?? Well the guy said today that he had been in conversations with Georgia Tech recently…. huh, wait a minute here.  So Mr. Johnson has an issue with a kid that takes a visit to another school once he has committed to Tech because of the word COMMITMENT.   but yet he doesn't have a problem letting a kid that is committed to another school come and visit him….  hmmmm.

Here is what I think.  I think I was wrong about PJ’s convections and I have come to the conclusion that he is just a pompous asshole who has just a little to much pride to be recruiting to a school like Tech.  The Nerds should welcome anybody that would even consider them and be happy for who ever they get.

Southern fried poll??

First poll of 2011. Tell the truth. Would you watch her in action??? I'll be the 1st and say Hell yes, just to see what she/"it" looks like. Prolly take a man like Evan Stone or Pete North to tangle with that thing. What say you?

Countdown to signing day

Since no one else cares to post anything on this blog, I'll share some insider information on recruiting (not really inside info. but wtf ever). Dawgs are lining up a very special class. As of now, UGA seems to have put up a fence around the state and we are getting most of our targets. Last week was huge picking up Jay Rome, the TE from Valdosta that has been a UGA lean for some time, and Malcolm Mitchell, the CB/WR from Valdosta that has was thought to be an Alabama lean. Their high school coach said that Rome would play in the NFL one day and that Mitchell is the best athlete he's ever coached. Sounds good coach, can't wait to see them in Red and Black. To go along with these guys we got a commit this week from Xzavier Ward, OT from Colquitt County. This guy is a definite redshirt this coming year. He's ranked as the #40 OT in the country but I love his upside. This year was only the second year he's played football. He's 6-7" 260lbs. right now and I love that frame to add about another 50lbs. He could be special in 2-3 years. Other big time recruits commited include Damian Swann (#9 rated CB), Zach DeBell (#28 rated OT), Watts Dantzler (#23 rated OT), Nice Marshall (#15 rated CB), Christian LeMay (#8 rated QB, was higher but didn't play high school ball this year), and Corey Moore (#6 rated S). We are looking to close with two five star players in Ray Drew and Isaiah Crowell. Add the JC DT John Jenkins and we should have a top 5 class if all goes as the Dawgs hope. Anyway, just thought I'd put something out for blog followers to read since no one else seems to post.

A picture that says it all...........

Congratulations to Alabama!

Alabama’s Spring practice this year will not just be “practice” it will be Try Outs.  Alabama will have 11 players leave the program this year (8 sr & 3 jr) and they were already at full capacity (85).  So how do they have 23 verbal commitments and will be entertaining several more this weekend?  Because they will not keep them.  What Coach Saban will do is after Spring practice he will “cut” the players that he doesn’t want.  Making it impossible for them to find another school this year because it will be to late.

Bobby Dodd would not allow any of the football players choosing Tech to be dismissed from Tech, because they were not good players. Dodd said, “it is not the recruits fault for not making the squad, it was the coaches fault for misjudging their talents”. If a recruit came to Tech, he would stay on a football scholarship until he graduated.

So Congrats! Bama.  There is a good reason Saban is always at the top of the recruiting charts.

Thoughts on the game....

First off, congrats to Auburn. That was one helluva game last night. I wasn't expecting the defensive battle that we got, but it made the game a great one to watch. Couple of things and then I am done....

1. Dyer is a stud and is going to be tough to face for the next few years. He obviously was good throughout the regular season but he showed out last night.
2. Nick Fairley is a dirty piece of shit. He has been taking cheap shots all year long and that BS that he pulled when he shoved James' face was just more proof. The Barn fans can say whatever they want, but time and time again he has shown that he is cheap & dirty.
3. Cam Newton is great, but I have heard all I ever care to hear about him. This shit has gotten worse than when Tebow was in school. Call it jealousy, being a sore loser, hater, etc - I don't care.
4. In my opinion, the Oregon coaching staff had a terrible game plan.

So now starts the most boring time of the year.......the off season. That time of the year when college football is no more.

Wild Card Weekend

Who Dat?? Fuck Dat.  But I do recommend taking the Aints today laying a HUGE 10 points over Seattle.  This is one of the biggest road favorites i can remember in the playoffs but the Hawks typically get their asses handed to them.

In the next game you have Peyton Manning going up against the Mexican…  Believe I will go with #18 laying the 2 1/2 points.

Sunday Baltimore goes into KC and that place gets nasty.  I do have a buddy that will at this game so I look forward to hearing what it is like in Arrowhead for a playoff game.  I like the Ravens laying 3 but I would recommend buying the hook.

The Pack goes into Philly for a Dog fight against Vick and I think Rogers comes out on top of this one and gives Reid his first first round playoff loss (i think, not sure about)

Harbaugh

just a little bit more on Harbaugh.  I don’t think he liked Rece asking him this question.  But with a name like Rece, he has to be gay

Andrew Luck to stay at Stanford

Don't know if I understand this. He says he plans on finishing out his degree in architectual design. Andrew, you'll make more in a signing bonus if you leave than you will in a career doing architectural design. I guarantee the coeds at Stanford were weighing on this guys mind as I'm sure he does what he wants when he wants if you know what I mean. Oh well, its a risk, but good luck Andrew, maybe AJ will follow your lead.

What Harbaugh does determines the future of southern football.

Let's say Harbaugh goes to Michigan, no big deal.
Now if he doesn't go to Michigan and RichRod still gets canned, then the chips start falling. I believe they'll go after Mad Hatter which opens up one of the best jobs in the south at LSU. People start cherry picking from there. Who loses their coach to LSU?

Thoughts and Reflections

Well after a few emails from the ignoramous that is Brad Culpepper, I think I will reflect a little on this college football season.

What we learned:
1. Auburn had a great season. They fielded the best college football player in the land. He made the infamous Tim Tebow look second rate. We also know that a lot of fishy things went on with his recruitment. I hope AU wins the title (for personal financial gain only). And Cam letting his teammates carry him off the field was pathetic btw.

2. Alabama is a very good team. They didn't win it all, but by the way they played in their bowl game, I don't think anyone would be happy to be facing them. Too bad Alabama and Stanford didn't play in the Orange b/c I think that would have been a hell of a game.

3. Jim Harbaugh is one hell of a coach. Stanford looked like a well oiled machine last night. He coaching players with less talent than a 6-7 UGA team, and makes them look unbeatable. Hey Jim, how do you like warm weather? Maybe a lake house on Lake Hartwell and the head coaching job in Athens?

4. Here is what I really don't want to talk about. UGA is a program that is really failing right now. We continue to recruit top talent and do nothing with it. Since we ended the 2007 year ranked #2 and started 2008 as preseason #1 the program has been on a steady decline. How can you lose 3 games with Stafford (#1 pick in NFL draft), Moreno (1st round draft choice), Massaquoi (early 2nd rounder I think), AJ Green (top WR in the country and future top 5 pick). All of these guys start in the NFL (besides Green), and we lose 3 games? Since then, we have won 8 games and 6 games ending with a losing record. The bowl performance was attrocious. It looked as though no one even cared. So Pepper, you asked what I thought of UCF beating us, yes it was horrible, embarrasing and many other things you failed to name. Its not a lot of fun to be a UGA fan right now, but things will get better, hopefully sooner than later. Mark Richt will be on the hottest seat in the country next year and will need a 9 win season at a minimum to keep his job. He knows this. Change is coming. We'll see if he knows what changes will result in better performance.

On a side note, did anyone notice Andrew Luck being carried off the field last night? I didn't.

Randy Edsall to MD. Where does this leave Leach??

I like the hire of Randy Edsall at MD, but where the hell is Leach going to end up if he does at all? Has the coaching domino effect even started or will there be one this year?
