Not really a lot to talk about right now on the DC hunt. Chavis' name has been the latest to be talked about but when Richt got question specifically about him he dodged the question as good as Ben Stiller did in Dodge ball. I expect that we will see Chavis get a raise pretty soon. Kirby Smart's name hasnt died yet. But!! I'm not sure what names are legit. Richt has done a very good job keeping names under wraps. Richt did say today that Garner is not going to be the DC and Garner is obviosuly cool with that. This is a good thing. CMR did say that the search may take a little longer than the first week of January. Could go on till the 2nd week.

As for the bowl picks I have been doing pretty good. if you notice my cod lock post this year is pretty much going just like last year. take a look and compare last year and this year games.

Calling out Meet Joe Black.....

You talked a ton of shit on this board throughout the season about the Gaytors, but we haven't heard one peep out of you since Alabama made Tim Superfagg cry like a little bitch on national television, gave your coach a heart attack and made him take an indefinite leave and basically donkey punched your fucking national title hopes back to Gainesville. It was easy for you to talk shit when the Gaytors were whipping up on UGAy and the other weaker SEC teams. Hell, you even told someone they sounded like a sore loser/Bama fan. Where you at Joe Black?? Step up to the plate and accept your ass whooping like a man.

Congrats to the Puppy Dogs

So UGAy wrapped up its season by beating up on Texas A&M. On one hand I am thrilled because my office (I work in Dallas) it littered with Aggie fans that try to say the Big 12 is on par with the SEC. However, it amazes me how far the pups and their fans have fallen. Not even 3 years ago, a trip to the Independence Bowl would have been looked at as an utter disappointment and a slap in the face of the "mighty" Bullfagg nation. Maybe the egos have been popped and people realize that Georgia isn't any good and nowhere near the top of the SEC. I mean, 5 losses? Or maybe this just goes back to a post made by Rusty Thomas in regards to UGAy and their fans. Arrogant, obnoxious, classless idiots. If this were any other team playing in the Independy Bowl, these same fans would be laughing and talking shit. But since it's the puppies playing, it is time to celebrate like they just won the national championship. This win will surely spark talk next spring that this is the year the Pups win it all and that UGAy is the most dominant team in the country. So with that I say congrats on a stellar victory over the mighty Texas A&M Aggies. Now go pop your collars, front tuck your khaki pants and have another bud light, douche bags.

3 BOWL COD LOCKS!!!!

Christmas is here and that means its bowl season my friends. Bowls can be a gambling nightmare. Most of the time of time there is only one or two games being played and you do your research and see where one team should actually dominate the other but it doesn’t always work out like that does it?

Last Year on the 7 games that were played before Christmas the Over hit on 5 out of 7 games.

Between Christmas and New Years Day the Under Hit 15 out of 20 games.

Then on January the 2nd when the Cotton, Liberty, and Sugar bowls played we had the Dog win outright in all 3 games.

We had 4 games with a total of 70 plus points and in all 4 games the Under hit.

And What about this… of the TOP 10 Scoring offenses in 2008 only 1 went Over and 9 went Under.

After looking at all of this here is what I have come up with..

Boise State playing TCU with a total of 55…. UNDER!!!!!!!!!!

Cinncy playing Florida with a total of 57…. UNDER!!!!!!!!

And now for the COD LOCK pick of the bowl games.. this one cant lose and you can watch it on Christmas EVE while your all boozed up and trying to put together some bullshit toy that your wife bought that has 1800 pieces and none of them are colored coded and your trying to find piece AA to put in 1B and you need to use the 3rd smallest screw in the world before you have to decal the bastard. Anyway, take the under in the Nevada/SMU game. The total is 73, remember how all 70 plus totals went under. AND you have the 5th highest scoring team in the nation, remember how 9 out of 10 highest scoring offenses went UNDER. The only thing that concerns me is that the game is played before Christmas and we did have 5 out of 7 go over last year before Jesus’ Birthday and it was in this bowl but it was Notre Dame and if your remember they had a field day out their and they did have baby Jesus on their side. TAKE THE UNDER ON CHRISTMAS EVE and after you completely screw that toy up that you were trying to put together… you can go buy you another one on me.

And the search goes on

Who the hell knows who are when anything is going to happen on the DC job. Richt said that we should have moved on something by the first week in January but maybe not, but hopefully so, but there is a chance they we want, but a good possibility that we will, but maybe not. Again, its very frustrating to not have a clue about what is going on but I do appreciate the fact that we are not publicly getting turned down. Who thought Mark Fox was going to be the next basketball coach?

I’m going to continue giving you names that are still being talked about in Athens. Keep in mind people that there is absolutely no substance to any name or any list. But these names are not just who I’m making up, I am actually hearing or reading about these names.

Kirby Smart (his name will be flying around until he actually comes out a publicly says something a lot more concrete than what he said at the award ceremony)

Brain Van Gorder (I’m not sure why he is still being talked about. I kind of threw his name out of the mix but for some reason his name is not dieing)

Ellis Johnson (this is another name that kind of want go away, and I’m kind of glad. He is not my 1st choice but defiantly some one that I wouldn’t mind falling back on)

Dick Bumpas (again, still being talked about but Gary Paterson just got a raise and if im not badly mistaken he is getting all of his assisatances raises also – but I would love this guy. I’m not sure I wouldn’t put him #1 on my list. For real, his stache alone is motivating)

Now for some guys that I have just recently heard about… instead of me telling you about them, just click on their name and you will go to their bio. Or wikipedia page

Reggie Herring -
Bob Sanders - be sure to click "more" to read his full bio.
Manny Diez - this guy may be worth taking a gamble on.

Dont Hate the BCS

Before you go off on some tangent about how much better a playoff system would be than the BCS, be careful what you wish for… The NCAA tourney that everyone just loves has 65 teams in it and every year we watch teams that you know are better than some 15 and 16 seeds that don’t get in. Now with 65 teams you would have to think that surely to god that this enough teams to determine a true National Champion, since that’s what everybody is bitching about.

Well here is my concern my friends… While I would just absolutely love a 4 or 8 team playoff I know that it wouldn’t stay that number for long. And eventually it would grow and grow to the point that it would be about a 24 team tourney. Before you tell me that would be ridiculous, before you tell me that the reason there is so many teams in the March Madness is the amount of teams there are in D1 BBall. There are 347 teams in D1 basketball and 65 make the tourney. That’s just shy of 20% of the teams. There are 120 D1 (It will always be D1 to me) teams and 20% would be 24. You see where I’m going with this? The NCAA tourney started out with 8 teams and has grown slowly to 65 and I don’t want to see College football go from 4 to 24. All you would need to do is make the top 24 and you got a chance to win the National Title. Ask yourself how lame the non-conference schedule would be then. Ask yourself how many Bama-V Tech, USC-Ohio ST, Ga-Okl St, etc… how many of those games would you see if all you needed to do was make the top 24? College football has the best regular season of any sport by far and because every single game counts. Every single Saturday something happens that closes doors for somebody and opens up doors for others. We would lose all of that just so we could have a “clear cut” national champion. As for me, the National Title has been pretty clear cut. I mean, just as clear cut as the NFL. Last year the Arizona Cardinals got their asses handed to them the last 3 games of the regular season and it didn’t matter one bit, still had a chance to play in the big one. The New England Patriots beat the New York Giants in New York and then a month and half later lost to lose the Super Bowl. Imagine if Florida and Bama got matched up again this year in a playoff National Title and Florida wins by 2 points. Would Florida be the “clear cut” National Champion? Hell NO!!!!! So if you think for a second that a playoff solves all problems then you are wrong. The only thing that gives you a clear cut Champion is a best of series and you cant have that with football.

As I said earlier that I would LOVE to see a 4 team playoff or a “plus one” kind of deal… but its not worth the chance of getting some 24 team playoff in the future. So be careful what you wish for.. once you get it, it will be here for good.

Friday

Mack Brown gets a $2 million raise? i couldnt find any recent facts but i found that in 2006 that texas had the highest revenues of any college football program but Georgia topped the list at profits. this is because we are not paying out as much as schools such as texas but we have the opportunity now to see if we (Damon Evans) wants to be a top tier school and is welling to pay top teir money. This year Georgia ranked 6th in the SEC on assistant coaching salaries with UT, LSU, and Bama being at the top.

speaking of coaches Billy Gonzales is no longer part of the Florida football staff and with multiple players leaving early for the draft... who knows but we obviously will get to see a Urban Myer that we havnt ever seen before.

KER - BEE!!! KER-BEE!!! KER-BEE!!!
on the Kirby watch we have had what appears to be more rumors than anything but at least we can still see smoke and normally you dont see this much smoke with out some fire. The good thing about this is that obviously Richt is going about this in the most professional manner that you can imagine. its nice that we haven't publicly been turned down by 3 or 4 people. Richt is doing a great job keeping this out of the rumor mills but is the reason no other names are surfacing because we dont want them to? Are we all completely selling out on the idea of Kirby or nothing? I hope not. dont get me wrong, i want the kirbster more than anyone but some of the other names that were being thrown around earlier weren't to shabby either... with the Gayterds needing to replace strong and who knows about other coaching jobs that are about to come open, im about to start to get a little nervous!

I have been told by someone who considers them self a "insider" that the Smart announcement will come by next wed. PLUS Travis Jones has already been contacted and offered a postion on Smart's staff. I have not confirmend this but i just sent Bobo a text and im waiting for his reply.

Thursday

I think im further away from knowing who the next DC is than i was before Richt fired Willie and the boys. Here are some links that may help you guys that didnt give me much help... (just click on the RED words and they will guide you to the site)

Jeff Schultz of the AJC manages to say abouslty nothing in GET SMART?

On Line Athens wrote a entire article that was summed up with the head line Smart 'happy at Alabama'

the Junkyard Blawg actually makes some good points that you may not want to read....

the Bleacher Report actually has a pretty good letter to Mark Richt that kinda of hit me in the face.

3 COD LOCKS!!!

FLORIDA –5 ½
ALABAMA 41

Last year I was very fortunate to be able to attend this ball game and I felt that it was one of the better ball games that I have ever seen live. In 4TH qt I witnessed a man take over a ball game like I have never seen before. Tebow completed passes in that quarter that I didn’t think were possible. Having said that I have been reading things this week about how dominant Florida and Tebow was last year in this very same game. What I am not reading is how less dominate Tebow has been this year after he was laid out in the Kentucky game. Lets just look at the scores alone. (NOTE: ONLY SEC GAMES WILL BE FIGURED IN ALL OF MY STATS AND AVERAGES) The Gators have scored 255 points in all 8 games this year compared to 360 last year. That’s 2 TD’s per game that they are scoring less this year than last. And on the defensive side of the ball the gators are giving up almost the exact same with 12.4 in 08 and 12 in 09. I honestly feel that this can be contributed to a couple of things. I think that when Florida played UT that Myer had a very conservative game plan and new he didn’t need to score many points to win, same against LSU. The LSU game alone Fla scored 38 points less than the year before. And in the So Carolina game the gators scored 32 points less. They are a much more conservative team this year and Vegas obviously agrees seeing that both of these teams on defense are not that much better from the year before but yet the total in the game is 2 TD’s less than last year. Alabama on offense is scoring just 1 point less per SEC contest and giving up just 2 points less than last years D from 12.6 in 08 and 10.6 in 09. And Bama is scoring 6 points less than last years team even with a heisman contender in Mark Ingram, even though I think Coffee is a better RB than Ingram.

With all this said I feel the game will come down to McClains ability to read the misdirection plays that Florida will be throwing at him. I don’t think he did a very good job against Auburn and if the Bama nation thinks that Auburn runs a high school offense and that’s the only reason why they were able to score on them then what do you call Florida’s offense when Tebow pitches it inside to a TE or Demps runs around for a reverse or when Tebow fakes a run up the middle and does a F’n jump pass? What do you call that offense Tide fans? What ever it is it works when you have talent and Florida has plenty of that. As for my pick…. I started this blog out with full intentions of picking Bama to win out right. I even called the radio show this morning and picked Bama but the more I look into this game the more I realize that Florida is a better football team and they flat out know how to win ball games. In the 4th Qt when the game is on the line, who would you pick Tebow or Mcleroy? I think Bama may keep it close, may even cover but the Gators go back to the National Title and my pick on the game is the OVER!! Something like a 27 – 23 type ball game maybe 27 – 20. either way the game goes over.

THE PANEL AS A GROUP WAS A COMPLETE TOSS UP. WE WERE ALL OVER THE BOARD.

BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP

Cincinnati –2.5 wins BIG, REALLY BIG. I mean come on, who is Pitt? Who is that guy with the porn star mustache on their side lines that calls himself a coach. I know with all the hype around Kelly going to Notre Dame everyone thinks it’s a distraction but I can assure you that he has this team ready and Cinncy wins by double digits as a small favorite.

PAC 10 - 7 point dog that wins out right Washington beats Cal out right as a 7 point dog. With Best out Cal has shown that they cant do anything, take the Huskies and win BIG!!

Def. Coordinators

My list of Defensive Coordinators that I told Coach Richt to go after last night when he called me after I congratulated him for the firing. That was tough on Richt and I assured him that I didn’t suggest him do that with out a solution to the problem. So here is my solution.

(click on the name of the coach and you will go to their Bio)
1st Choice
The sexy pick is Kirby Smart. Coaching with Nick Saban and helping Alabama to one of the best Defenses in the nation is the reason why Kirby is the sexiest pick out there. BUT some people believe that Kirby is going to FSU under his Ole pal Jimbo Fisher and others believe that he isn’t planning on moving till its to go to a head coaching job. My feelings are that no coach under Saban has gone to become a head coach on his next move and FSU is in a lot more trouble than Georgia talent wise. Kirby could come into a talent infested team that was horrific last year and only move up. Plus he would be under Richt so he would get full credit for the Defense. Throw in the fact that he can hire two of his coaches and you have atleast a shot at getting him.

2nd Choice
Ellis Johnson’s name has been thrown out there a good bit and I think he would be a great fit for the Bulldogs. His contract does run through 2011 but his past shows that he will leave a program under contract. The thing I like most about him is his aggressive style and when I watched South Carolina play this year I was just amazed at how hard the defense would get after the ball on every play. Ellis is obviously not looking at becoming a head coach so he wouldn’t be just a quick fix.

3rd Choice
Im going out a limb here and looking at someone who’s name hasn’t even been mentioned. Everett Withers of North Carolina served 6 years under Jeff Fisher at Tennessee and now is serving under Butch Davis. UNC is landing big name recruits left and right and their Defensive back field had 20 picks this year with 4 being returned for TD’s. GA had 8 total.

4th Choice
If we don’t have one of the top 3 then at this point im starting to panic and I go with Charlie Harbison of Clemson. Clemson ranked 21 Nationally in Defense and at this point I really don’t know who the hell else is out there. I want to stay close to home because of recruiting and Charlie ….. Wait a damn minute, this guy finished 4th in the weak ass ACC so if we don’t land the top 3 then we are just shit of luck.

Rival Week

Before I get into my picks I would like to first say that If Head Coach Mark Richt does not fire the following people then he needs to join the ministry because he sure as hell don’t need to be coaching the Georgia Bulldogs.

FIRE!! Willie Martinez – really don’t need to explain why, just look at the points everyone puts up on us. OR look at the amount of forced turnovers. OR just watch a game and see how wide ass open the wide receivers are when they catch the ball.

FIRE!! Jon Fabris – Special Teams is a F'n joke this year. our kickoff coverage is pathetic and we have our second string QB Logan "fair catch" Gray fielding punt returns. is he the only kid smart enough to understand when to catch it and when to return it? Javar Arenas from Alabama is one of the best punt returners in the nation. Mike Dumbass Shula found him and Fla Atlantic was the only school to offer him a scholarship other than Bama. My point (which is hard to understand sometimes) is it cant be to hard to teach someone when to fair catch and when to run.

FIRE!! Clay Walker – Why is it that every year we get the “injury bug” as the Reverend Richt likes to say? Ill tell you why, because this queer isn’t getting our guys tough enough. Bring in some body that will shoot these guys up with some HGH and lets get it done.

FIRE!! The water girl. We don’t need Richt’s stupid wife on the side lines. Put her ass up in the stands with all of her adopted kids and maybe her husband will grow a set of nutts.

On Saturday night I will smile and cry at the same time. I will smile when the Dawgs finally man up and beat this group of over achievers from the ACC and I will rejoice when I watch all of those 1600 S.A.T.’s get crazy as hell and maybe say, “shit” out loud and then giggle because their gay asses feel bad for cursing. I will on the other hand shed a tear when I see Reverend Richt embrace Wille Martinez in his arms and I will then start to pray asking the good Lord, “please Oh Lord give Mark Richt the courage to fire as many people on this Georgia staff as he can and Oh Lord please help Damon Evans to threaten the Reverend Richt that if he doesn’t grow the balls to fire at least the 4 people previously mentioned that his ass will be gone with them. Thank you Lord.”

The picks that you will think were delivered after the game was played.

BONUS PICK!! BONUS PICK!! BONUS PICK!!
TAKE THE 7 POINTS THAT THE QUEERS FROM ATLANTA ARE LAYING AND WATCH THE DAWGS KEEP THIS GAME WITH IN 7 POINTS.

Arizona –3 @ Arizona State

Zona is coming off a hard double overtime loss to the Ducks of Oregon so this week should be a let down right? Next week Arizona has USC so this is a look ahead right? NO AND NO!! this is why the line is a RIDCULOUS 3. Zona has wins against ucla, Stanford, and a really tough Oregon state team and came close to beating one of the hottest teams in the Nation in Oregon. Arizona State has wins against Idaho St, Louisiana-Mon, Wash St, and Washington, that’s it… that’s the only teams they have beaten this year.. and they are only getting 3 points against a team that like the wild cats who actually had a chance to win the PAC 10 this year? Home dog in a in state rival screams take em, right? No sir re bob, not in this one my friend, not in this one.. zona is 5 and 2 against the spread in the last 7 games played @ Arizona State and last year won this game at home 31-10 as a 13 point favorite. This year Zona is better and State is worse..

Wild Cats (MEEEYAHHHOOWWWW)

Mizzo vs. Kansas

Alright MANgeno is on his way out the door and your not going to see a “win one for the gipper” because the team hates him. HATES HIM!!! The team wants his fat ass gone and he has lost complete control of this locker room. Not one player has come forth and stood up for the fat guy and what on earth makes Vegas think that this will be less than a touchdown ball game.. Mizzo is coming in on a 2 game winning streak while the gayhawks are on a 6 game losing streak (after starting 5 and 0 by the way). Its been all down hill as of late for the hawks and Mizzo comes in and takes advantage.
Mizzo –3

THE DAWGS

I got a call this morning from a douche bag that asked that I make Georgia one of my Cod Locks so that Auburn would win…. Alright, as bad as I hate to say it the Dawgs need this win to become bowl eligible and we need all the extra practice we can get for next year. Auburn beats a mediocre Ole Miss team and a couple of Bullshit Ball States and now Chizik is everybody in Auburns Facebook friend. Well maybe he well make his status Sunday morning this…”I’m sorry my team quit on me in Athens yesterday, Little Trooper tried to keep them fried up with his little towel but it didn’t work. I love Gus’s penis.” (also if you want to read where i ask if chizik was the right move, click HERE or if you want to read where i picked UK to beat Auburn outright as a double digit road Dog then click HERE)Auburn has no chance in this game after Georgia got healthy on Tenn Tech. (oh yea, had someone try and justify why Auburn gave up 31 points to Furman) The Dawgs are healthy, the Dawgs are Hungry, and the last time Auburn came between the hedges Soldier Boy was my ring tone for the same Douche Bag that asked me to pick Auburn today.

Maybe I’ll have time to get some more picks up today

No Picks from me this week

I will be hog hunting all day Saturday and it should be an adventure. The guys we are going with told me not to bring a gun….uhhh ok. Then what do I kill them with? We will be using knifes and bulldogs. WOW!! Ok, so here is what we do. We will send bay dogs to run the hog down and bay it up and then release a catch dog to go in and grab it. Then one guy goes in and grabs its back legs, flips it over, and then someone else jumps on it and stabs it in the chest. I’m sure I will have some pretty good stories for you guys soon.

Joe's Picks

I dont have much time and im getting ready for the Georgia/Florida game (which i think Georgia can win by the way and piss on you if you doubt it - what? you think that since Georgia has no running game and that Florida has the best pass defense in the country that that is supposed to mean that Georgia want be able to score? you think because every body puts up 40 points on the Dawg D that Florida shouldnt have any trouble scoring 50? is that supposed to make a shit to me? Huh? Hell No. Bottom line is that Georgia has nothing to lose. Georgia has had 2 weeks to think about just how bad they hate Florida. and Georgia has seen a Tebag fall from grace. Final Score.... i have no clue. i just hope it aint a F'in blow out. i dont think i can handle it. i really dont. BUT i do have my 2 buddies coming over to watch it and help me out. Evan Williams and Sams Cola. good buddies of mine.

As for the picks....

So Carolina's D ends will keep Crompton on the run and he throws 2 picks to keep this game way closer than 6. USC +6

Auburn plays worse in the mornings than they do at Death Valley at night, and that is pretty bad. I called for the Kentucky upset win at Auburn 2 weeks ago as a 13 point dog and tomorrow i will lay the 4 points and watch Ole Miss win by double digits. The D of Miss is to good and the O at Auburn is to bad. if you want a little parlay then throw the under in. i think its at 49. Ole Miss -4 (& under 49 on the parlay)

Reese's Picks.

HERE IS REESE AND HIS NEW FOUND LOVER SINCE, YOU KNOW.......

I’m not gonna let this blog die a slow death. My picks may suck but here they are:

Duke +7.5 @ Virginia: Cutcliff is an offensive guru and wins this game outright.

DA U -7 @ Wake: My Riley Skinner pick a couple weeks back sucked balls. That’s why I’m going with the Thugs in check and Whipple calling deep routes all day. Miami blows this one wide open.

Michigan -7@ Ilinois: Ron Zook sux, Juice Williams sux, the whole team sux. RichRod opens up a can of home grown West Virginia bred whoop ass on the fighting illini.

GT-10.5 @ Vandy: No single coach has played PJ more than Bobby Johnson (8 times). His record is 2-6 against Ole PJ. PJ gives BJ a Dirty Sanchez at half time and blows this thing wide open during a down pour.

SC +6 @ UT: No one game plans better than The Ole Ball Coach. Lane Kiffin is going to regret saying that stuff about that recruit pumping gas for a living. Ole Ball Coach breaks one off in Lane and takes his wife (Layla) home to show her how he does it Cock’s style.

(I like it Reese cup, Culpepper, Rusty, and myself all like the Dookies this weekend. Culpepper and Rusty both suggesting the money line)

Was Chizik the right move?

Right now the cyclones, the team that Chizik left, just beat Nebraska to improve their record to 5 – 3. Chizik won 5 games total in the 2 years he was there. The Cylcones beat South Dakota State and Kent State in the first 2 games and then lost their last 10 straight games. “BUT CHIZIK LEFT THEM WITH MORE TALENT THAN HE HAD!!” says defensive Auburn fan. I understand that, but are you telling me that Nebraska isn’t better this year than last year? Last year Nebraska beat Iowa State 35 – 7 and now a much improved Nebraska team lost to Iowa State 9 – 7. Last year Baylor beat Iowa State 38 – 10 and this year Iowa State handed Baylor a Homecoming lose 24 – 10. And the loses that I.S. has this year are not near as embarrassing as last year. It appeared that last years team gave up on Chizik once they were down and this years team fights to the end. Can someone tell me who the hell Paul Rhodes is? He is the coach at Iowa State. He is the guy that Iowa State hired after Auburn came after the man that they were going to fire, you know, Chizik. He was the Auburn Defensive Coordinator last year. WHAT?!?!? You mean the guy that is doing so good at Iowa state, the guy that some people are talking National Coach of the YEAR about came from Auburn?

Now lets look at this years Auburn team, started off with 5 straight wins and now they have lost 3 straight with their last one being almost hard to watch. The final score, 31 – 10, is bad. But hey, last year Tubberville got beat by LSU 26 – 21. Lets not forget that Tubberville got FIRED because his offense couldn’t produce and the Defense had lost its fight. Uhhhhh? Im confussed. Last years Auburn team gave up 30 plus points only twice. This years team has averaged giving up 32 points the last three games. Last years Auburn team put up 26 points and 320 yards against LSU, this years team put up 10 points and 193 yards. So Chizik, looks like you and Jay Jacobs need to be figuring out where to send your resumes. Like Georgia, Like Alabama, and like so many other schools, after you fire a decent coach, you might want to make damn sure you get some one better. if not, then you are in for a bad 5 years.

Looks like Auburns next hire needs to be Jamie Pollard. He is the AD at Iowa State. Looks like he is one step ahead of the Tigers.

Pick from John S

We all like a good easy winner in the middle of the week right? Well all of us gamblers at least, the bookies probably won't pick up the phone b/c they know what is gonna happen. That's right, they are gonna get SLAYED! Not much write up time so just take East Carolina tonight, lay the points and watch Pinkney (QB for ECU for the past 8 years) deliver a winner to your doorsteps.

You can all say thank you tomorrow.

Gotta give props.....

to the Tennessee Volunteers. Even though their record doesn't show it, this is a team on the rise. Both Florida and Alabama were lucky to walk away with wins against this team. I am not going to make any excuses for the Tide, but their offense has looked pretty bad for the past few weeks and looked absolutely terrible this past weekend. That being said, the Volunteer defense was stout and came to play. Without the Tide defense and the immovable Mount Cody, the season would have been over this past weekend. I honestly believe that Tennessee is just a few playmakers away from being scary good.

Taking the Chalk

Don’t have much time this week for my picks and since Ga is off (hopefully getting ready for Fla) I hadn’t spent much time on here.

As for my picks, short and sweet –

Ga Tech and my man Paul Johnson run up and down the field on Virgina. Virgina is getting a little to much respect with only 3 straight wins over UNC, Indiana, and Maryland. Lets not forget who these teams are. UNC being the only one of the bunch I will even give a little bit of props to came in after a disappointing lose to GT and I think took the Cavaliers a little to lightly. We don’t have to worry about the Jackets making the same mistake. Remember, this team is the same team that lost to William and Mary in the opener.

Lay the points, Tech –5 ½

Bama’s Defense is just scary. They make good QB’s look bad and they will make a bad QB look really bad. Crompton throws 2 picks and UT doesn’t move the ball enough to keep in with in the 15. FYI, I will be at this game and should have a good story when I get back.

TCU horny frogs. I love this team. I love the fact that they get RB’s and move them to LB to have a defense that is just way faster than any other D that the teams out west see. Lets not forget that the last time BYU saw some speed on D they looked really bad (see FSU) TCU minus the 2

Everyday I'm Hustlin...

Gamecocks +17.5 vs Crimson Tide

After a dominant defensive showing last week against highly overated Ole Miss, I look for the Crimson Tide to come out and look to make a statement offensively against an overmatched Gamecock team.....but they won't cover 17.5 points. If last week proved anything, it's that you don't have to crush a team to look good to the pollsters. Nick Saban never publicly speaks about the rankings, but he knows that Bama is sitting pretty and all they need to do is win out for a rematch with Florida. Spurrier has his team believing and playing very well, but the Bama defense will be too much for Garcia to handle. It will be a close game in the first half. I say the Tide by 14.

Oklahoma -3 vs Texas

Statement game. Bottom line, Texas needs a big win and a big offensive showing. They dropped in the polls last week despite winning by a comfortable margin and being undefeated this season. Most people argue that if Sam Bradford hadn't been hurt, Oklahoma might still be undefeated. I say that is bullshit. The defense wasn't hurt against BYU. If anything, that game showed some weaknesses in the OU secondary and I look for Colt McCoy to take advantage. If Texas can protect him and give him time in the backfield, this game could get ugly. Texas by a touchdown.

Kicks and Picks

Why the title " Kicks and Picks" ? I'll tell ya. I'm gonna tell you fuckers who to bet on this week but not before I kick that dead horse a few times.
If you really wanna get a good chuckle, please scan down to Joe's 5 reason why Georgia beats Tennessee. It's fun to read to read about how that game was to be a total mismatch. Well that it was my friends, that it was.
I know I told you in my previous post that I would handle this game no matter what the outcome with class and simply say "Your boys played a good game", but....I can't. It wasn't a good game. It fact, I couldn't really even enjoy the victory because I actually felt bad for the bulldogs and how bad their team is. 3 points? Yeah, that's all your offense could do and that came from a 53 yard field goal. Do you know that the dawgs didn't even get inside the 34 yard line the whole game? These boys somehow found a way to make what is maybe the worst quarterback in UT history look like Peyton Manning. Now comes the blame game...
No refs to blame this time boys, hell if anything they called it your way, so the dawg faithful turn their heads to the defensive coordinator and they all want him fired. This is hilarious to me considering the defense was responsible for scoring as many points as the offense. Why don't we just admit that this just isn't your year. No more blame game, no more laying in the dirt and crying. You don't wanna mess up those nice khakis....

On to the good stuff

Gonna keep it short and sweet this week cause when I ramble out a bunch of stats then it just makes me look dumber when I'm wrong.

NC State at Boston College
BC is favored by only 3 at home? Seriously?? Look I saw what happened to BC last week and I think that's part of the reason I like em so much. I think they're mad. NC stae lost their last 2 games, one of which they lost at home by something like 20 points to a 15 point underdog Duke. Here's one stat for. BC has won their last 5 home games, NC State has won 4 of their last 18 road games. I'd take BC in this game if the spread were 9.

Texas Tech at Nebraska
I think this ones a no brainer here. First of all Nebraska is at home and they love that. Texas Tech knows how to score points but they've never really played a team that knew what defense was. Nebraska's defense only average 8 points allowed per game and is ranked 12 in passing defense. You take Techs ability to throw the ball away and they have nothing else. Yes, hey may rank number 2 in passing yards but they're 114 in rushing yards. Need I say more? Nebraska understands that defense wins games and that will prove true on Saturday. The spreads at 9 1/2 now. Get it before it goes up.

Good Luck!

Pick - Double Digit Dog that could win out right

Kentucky @ Auburn -13 1/2

Hartline went down early in the 3rd Quarter last week against South Carolina (who I think is a pretty damn good ball club this year). Kentucky was up 17 – 14, then South Carolina scores a TD to go up 21 – 17. Kentucky then finishes the 3Qt off with a field goal and we have a 21 – 20 ball game with a true sophomore (click that and check his bio out) at the helm for Kentucky in Columbia. South Carolina Scores a TD mid way through the 4th to go up by 8. Now what happens next is the main reason I like UK. Cobb leads his team on a 8 play 70 yard drive to score what could have been the tying TD but they failed on the 2 pt conversion. The reason the line is double digits is two reasons. The first is you have an Auburn team that is getting a little more respect than they deserve and you have a Kentucky team that is starting a true sophomore on the road. UK defense keeps them in the ball game and Cobb scores enough points on offense to keep with in the 13 ½ points that Auburn is laying. plus this gave me a reason to have a couple of pictures of Ashley Judd. (i love you ashley...)

Kentucky +13 ½ - the Dog of the week.

little bit from me, and then Reese's picks

(before you read Reese's picks i want to say that i have written four different posts about the Ga/Ut game and have deleted them all. I really cant figure out where i stand on the Richt issue. i will have something later in the week about it. As for "the Truth" ; he sent me his picks saturday and i didnt get a chance to post them before sunday. he did go 2 - 1 w/ his loss being the Bills)

I’m back and prolly with a bunch of loser picks but here it goes:

Wake +7 at Clemson: Riley Skinner…….’nuff said.

USC/ND under 49: Matt Barkley doesn’t have this offense as explosive as past SC QB’s, it’s more ball control and there D is stepping up. Charlie Weis is a poser.

OU/Tex over 51: They both can score and Bradford looks to be back at almost 100%.

TT +10.5 at Nebraska: It doesn’t matter which QB plays (Sheffield or Potts), they both can move the ball. Nebraska can score more than years past.

GT +3 vs VT: My Jackets are going to move the ball and score td’s, plain and simple. If the D steps up any and I mean any, watch out for PJ to unleash Hell on Beamer and Bud Foster. Joe I bet you were nodding your head all night agreeing with PJ last week when he took it to Mickey Andrews. Oh and another fact or 2, GT didn’t punt against FSU and hasn’t tried a field goal in 3 weeks since the UNC game.

(welcome back reese, what sucks about liking PJ is that Ga sucks real bad this year. while im going to pull for tech in every game till the last, its going to be very pain full to see him put up just as big of numbers as he did last year against this Defense. Maybe it will be the final straw that breaks Willie Martinez's back.)

to rusty, im sorry

Well rusty I guess I need to apologize on behalf of the Bulldog Nation. Our Clothing is truly unacceptable and I apologize that we wear khaki pants and make you feel inferior for wearing cut off blue jeans and tennis shoes with a Velcro strap. We need to take your feelings into consideration when we wear a polo shirt and next time go get the latest starter t shirt at walmart so you will feel better about yourself. I do hate the fact that we cant wear our orange hunting vest to ball games like Tennessee fans do, but we actually hunt in ours so we don’t want to get the smell of coon dogs on it when we go to Knoxville. Our women actually dig the fact we still have hair and don’t really care for the “beaver cleaver” look that peyton made so famous while at UT. Our flip flops are just flat out wrong. I agree 100% rusty. We should be more manly in our shoe chose but they are comfortable when we leave the game and go listen to some good live music in Athens, but I will be sure to wear my boots in Knoxville since most of the roads are not paved yet.

As to wanting to fire our head coach after a disappointing year. Correct if im wrong but didn’t yall just fire a man that had went 152-52 and was responsible for bringing Tennessee to where they are today. Wasn’t he just in the SEC championship game a couple of years ago? I completely agree that Georgia fans are not nearly as patient with their head coach as you guys are., seeing that mark richt has the longest tenure of all SEC coaches. But hey, if we could have replaced him with a guy as experienced as Lane Kiffin then I would want to also.
So Rusty, get ready to “hang your head high” after you lose Saturday morning and prepare for another losing season. I wish I could sympathize but its been since 1996 since Georgia had a losing record and I would actually have to go back and check the record books to see when we had back to back losing records. But hey, “it’s a rebuilding year” so don’t get down on yourself little fella, with a coach as proven as jr. is, im sure you guys will be back before you know it. Good thing your patient. May take him a little it longer since he is pissing every other head coach off in the SEC. What a good representation of such a humble fan base. Damn you Georgia, Damn you.

Why I hate Georgia fans

By: Rusty Thomas

Here I sit at my desk, watching the clock tick away till game time. Only 24 hours left till kickoff. I can’t wait! Tomorrow at noon, my Tennessee Vols will take on the Bulldogs of Georgia. This game means a lot to me because of all the games we play all year, I want to beat Georgia the most. You see I’m a die hard Vols fan living in Georgia and something dawned on me long ago. I actually have no real problem with Georgia’s football program,
No one in association with the team has actually wronged me personally, except for that time Tim Wansley tried to beat me up in a waffle house parking lot, the deep hatred I have for this team isn’t really based on the team at all. It’s their fucking fans that make me physically sick with anger. Here’s why….

Let’s start with the obvious. Every UGA fan is fundamentally the same person. A bunch of loud, obnoxious red necks that get up on Saturday morning and put on their game day uniforms. Red polo, neatly tucked into their Khaki pants, hat sitting on top of their heads but not pulled down too far so that every one can still see their shaggy mop hair cuts that they all seam to have, flip-flops and of coarse the quintessential expression of absolute douchebaggery painted upon their face. Now that’ we’re all in uniform let the mouthing off begin.

If they handed out the national championship in July, Georgia would win it every year.
“This is gone be the year, National Champions 08 baby” followed by high fives all around using their free hand that isn’t holding a Zima. God forbid they actually are honest and say well, this looks like a rebuilding year for us. No, they can’t say that because truth be told, 90% of the retarded Georgia faithful probably can’t name a single fucking player or even tell you the coaches name.

Once the season starts, the douchebaggery only gets worse. Georgia loses a game, is it their fault, no, never! Blame the referees, “they didn’t call it both ways” “ if it wasn’t for that bad call we’d of won” Just look at the LSU fiasco, maybe it was a bad call, but let’s face it, the better team won. Plus, who the hell are you to bitch considering your are one of the most penalized teams in all of college football. Cheaters! Just once I’d like to hear a Georgia fan say “ they played a good game, they were just a better team.” Well, I won’t hold my breath on that one cause you ask any Georgia fan and they’ll tell ya that on a neutral field versus the Indianapolis colts, Georgia wins my 2 scores.
Then, god forbid they actually win the game, they have absolutely no class. How bout a “ you guys played a good game” or “ man, that was close, we sure lucked out there.” No, not from a Georgia fan, all you’ll hear loud uncalled for gloating that really just makes you want to put your foot up their ass right through their neatly pressed khakis, considering they probably didn’t even watch the game as they were tied up at the Nickel Back concert.

These are just a few of the reasons I can’t stand these cock suckers. I hate myself for it but I actually have to cheer for Florida when they play Georgia, yes I said it, Florida because I wouldn’t cheer for Georgia even if they were playing against communist Russia.

Tomorrow’s game is big for both teams and I’m pretty sure Tennessee’s running game and defense will be enough to come out victorious. Georgia will be moving backwards all day do to penalties and Tennessee wins 24-17. After our victory, I’ll wait silently for the Georgia fans to finish their speech about how it was the refs fault and how Mark Richt should be fired for not winning every game and then I’ll say, “you guys played a good game” and that will be it. However, if this game doesn’t go my way and Georgia comes out on top, it’s ok, I can hold my head high cause at the end of the day no matter what the score may be…………………………….You guys are still douche bags.

Top 5 reasons why Georgia beats UT

before i say a little bit about the Ga / Ut game i wanted to give you guys some links that are pretty good

  • View from 336 always has a great wright up before the game, read it HERE
  • If your wanting to read some vol's stuff, read it HERE
  • David Hale, who i steal most of my stats, ideas, and most of the other shit i post from, check him out HERE as he goes "behind enemy lines" and speaks with a Vols blogger
Now for my top 5 reasons why Georgia beats Tennessee in Knoxville
  1. Officials
  2. Orson Charles
  3. AJ Green
  4. Lane Kiffin
  5. Jonathon Crompton

#1 the officials came out and apologized for completely screwing up the call on AJ Green last week so this week they lay off and Georgia only gets flagged for 100 yards.

#2 Orson Charles will have a big game. We have seen glimpses of him this year and every time he looks more and more special. Expect a 20 yard plus touchdown from charles this weekend

#3 AJ Green is the best wide receiver is college football. AJ Green is the best play maker in college football. I cant describe how good this kid is and I cant wait to see Eric Berry go up with AJ and watch AJ come down with it.

#4 Lane Kiffin – let me take you into the future. Tennessee loses to Ga, then Bama, then So Carolina, then beats Memphis, then loses to Ole Miss, beats Vandy, then loses to Kentucky and finishes the season at 4 and 8. Georgia finishes at 9 and 3 and is playing on New Years day against at Big 10 school and is a 6 point favorite. You are going to wake up with a hang over and tell yourself, can you believe that Georgia was a 1 point underdog to Tennessee? The point is, Kiffin sucks.
  6. #5 Can you tell me a worse QB than Crompton? I watch him and cant help but to chuckle. I think to myself, why didn’t John S get a scholarship if Crompton did. Ok, maybe that’s pushing it. I have been reading that Georgia should see more wildcat this weekend. should be interesting.

The Truth

Once you find a horse that wins you ride it till he is done. Well that is what I’m doing with Alabama. The Tide is 4 and 1 ATS with their only lose as a 34 pt favorite. South Carolina showed that when you get some pressure on Snead that he becomes a totally different QB. Kirby Smart will have some blitz packages out of the 3 – 4 that Ole Miss has never seen and Snead will be totally out of his element. Alabama does not turn the ball over or shoot itself in the foot with stupid penalties (like Ga) and that’s the reason the game will not be with in the 5 points. I normally buy the whole point on my top picks because so I will have it at 4. A man wiser than myself once told me, F@$# the juice, I play to win. The Truth is, Bama covers.

The next pick is a total mismatch. Georgia has beaten a real good South Carolina team, a decent Arizona State, and a pretty good Arkansas team. They were 45 seconds and a bullshit call away from beating the #4 team in the nation LSU. Ut has 2 wins and the teams they beat are the Hill Topers and the Bob Cats. How long is taking you to figure out who those teams are. UT is 2 and 3 with 2 of the 3 loses coming to teams that were not even ranked at the time. And the other was a “moral victory.” Listen if you program is at the point where you have “moral victories” then you need to be given up double digits to a good SEC team. You can get this game at a pickem and the only time this game will be close is at kick off. The second string qb at UT must still be in high school because crompton is as bad as they come. The Truth is, Dawgs cover.
Come back before sunday to find out "The Truth" about the sunday ticket

(that picture is of the back up qb at UT)

The Truth

I have got a special guest for you guys this weekend and I hope to be able to make him a regular on your favorite blog. This is no joke. Guy went 11 – 0 this past Sunday including straight bets, teasers, and parlays. I witnessed this first hand. Now all of you are pretty knowledgeable (I know this because you choose to read this blog) so you understand the odds of this happening again is slim to none BUT!! He will maintain a winning percentage with his NFL picks. With over 25 years of handicapping experience we are truly fortunate to be able to have his insight into the NFL. Now I know most of the contributors on here think very highly of themselves. So highly no one emailed me or posted anything after having a horrific week. This guy may take a hit every now and again but I can say with complete certainty that you will be better off after getting his valuable insight. Whether it be just to lay off a game because he sees a trap, or a good opportunity to middle a game because he feels the line is right on the money. What ever it may be, you will be better off going into Sunday after reading his thoughts. I know I am full of shit most of the time. Guys and gales this is not a joke. He asked that his name not be revealed and out of respect I obliged. So I will simply refer to his picks as “The Truth.”
on a side note. i am part of a new college football poll called the mumme poll. (you can click it and it will take you to it) i will be posting how i voted on this poll and i would like for it to be a good representation of all of us so please give me your feedback. this week i voted -- #1 Alb, #2 Fla, #3 Tex, #4 Lsu, #5 Va Tech, #6 Iowa, #7 Miami, #8 USC, #9 TCU, #10 Cinny, #11 Auburn, #12 Boise St i tried my best to not let any preseason hype or the current polls right now have any impact on my poll. of course this is impossible to do but i did try my best.

Blame for LSU game

Who do we put the blame on for Saturday’s loss? I’m not sure. So here is my attempt of placing the blame for Georgia falling between the hedges.

Joe Cox – joe had nothing to hang his head low about. (Not that it really matters to him that a guy that has a blog that 8 people read doesn’t think he should hang his head low) I was waiting the whole first half for him to get into a rytheym and in the 2nd half he did. Lets not be to hypocritical here. when he gets the ball with under 3 min left down 12 – 7 and drives 6 plays 79 yards in under 2 minutes to score the go ahead TD with a 1:09 to go in the game!! Joe Cox wasn’t on the field when Ga allowed LSU to score their TD to go back ahead. Lets not act like if Cox would have thrown that ball to AJ w/ 5 seconds left that we wouldn’t have all been talking about how much of a leader Cox is.
COX GETS 6% OF THE BLAME just because he is the qb and he did have a shitty 1st half.

Willie Martinez- god I wanted to blame willie so bad but actually I didn’t think he did that bad of a job. I know they put up 368 total yards (212 ground / 156 air) but we did hold them to 5 for 14 on 3rd down conversions. After the first half for us to only be down 6 points and our offense to be completely out of sorts, you got to give him a little credit. And I really hated to. Even on the finale play, Houston was double teamed, Boykin was being held, and Rennie (what appeared to be rennie) took the wrong gap. They had great blocking and im not sure willie should have done anything different on this play. 4 WR’s and a single RB w/ QB in shot gun and we were in the nickel and both LB’s attacked forward like they were expecting the a run… im hell, how can I fault willie.
WILLIE GETS 8% OF THE BLAME

Mike Bobo- 1 first down in the 1st half is completely unacceptable. However. After going back a really looking we were pretty balanced in the first half. It felt like while watching that we abaneded the run to early but we really didn’t. 8 runs and 10 passes with 4 passes in a row one time but other than that we were pretty balanced. BUT then the 2nd half came around and we had 18 passes to 11 runs and here is what CMR said about the play calling himself.. "We need to have enough of a good mix of run-pass to keep people off balance a little bit."
BOBO GETS 12% OF THE BLAME

Caleb King and Richard Samuel – come on guys. Really. This is the place where running backs get ready to go to the NFL. Samuel showed a glimpse of a good running back early in the So Carolina game after getting heavily critized for how he ran against Oky State but since then it seems like he is a 1 hit = tackle running back. AND King came in with Herschel hype and just hasn’t seemed to be able to put together anything. BUT now that Ealey has made his statement, the depth chart may get adjusted.
KING AND SAMUEL GET 17% OF THE BLAME

HEAD COACH MARK RICHT- the University of Georgia has now lost 8 of their last 9 home games against top 5 teams at home. Tommy Tubberville had a better record than this and he is playing golf right now. I don’t know why you have a problem scoring points in the first half but it normally helps. “but ga lost 80% of its offensive production last year,” whiney ass fag says. Horse SHIT!!! Last year here is a couple of our big games.
vs. South Carolina: Six points in the first halfvs. Alabama: Zero points in the first halfvs. Florida: Three points in the first halfvs. Auburn: Seven points in the first halfvs. Michigan State: Three points in the first half
(stole this stat from david hales blog – you can read it HERE)

yea, this is with the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft at QB. This is also with the #12 overall pick at RB. This is also with 2 NFL caliber WR’s in MoMass and AJ on this team.

HEAD COACH MARK RICHT GETS 57% OF THE BLAME!!!!
We do still control our on destiny in the SEC east though.

Winner, Winner.... Chicken Dinner

Alabama -15.5

Obviously I am being a homer on this one, but for the first time in a long time the Crimson Tide have an offense to go with their stifling defense. After watching Tebow gash the Kentucky defense for over 100+ rushing yards, I feel that the Tide's trio of running backs will have their way with a pretty weak defensive front. The 'Bama defense looks as strong as ever and I don't see much of an offensive threat for the Wildcats. I am not saying that your should bet your mortgage, but this game is a lock.

LSU +3.5

Joe will hate it, but I think that LSU wins this one straight up. This is a HUGE statement game for the Bayou Bengals. Their #4 ranking doesn't mean shit at this point. They have been the benefactor of better teams getting upset and a weak schedule up to this point. However, Les Miles is aware of all of this and will be out to prove that the Tigers are, in fact, as good as their ranking states. I have just been very unimpressed with the Dawgs this season. While they have been scoring points faster than Rusty eats donuts, their defense is just atrocious. They look vulnerable at all points of attack and I think that this week LSU will be to much for 'em.

My picks

Washington +13.
Your getting good value here after the hang over loss to Stanford last week. Washington may not be a top team but they do have a top QB and he alone will keep this game with in 2 TD’s.

DETROIT LIONS ARE BACK, or here for the first time…. I’m not sure if they ever have been so I don’t know if they can come back to something they have never been. ANYWAY, Detroit is a much improved team, and now that they do have a win under the belt, they have a new found conifendence in themselves. Getting double digits from a Chica….Chica…..Chica GO!!! GOT YOU!! SIT DOWN!!! (name that movie) Chicago hasn’t really found its rythem and I don’t think they should be laying this big of number. Not picking an upset here, but do feel that the Lions cover the number

BUDDY RYAN buddy ryan, your D is so so fine, buddy ryan. The J. E. T. S. JETS!! JETS!! JETS!! The jets beat N.O. straight up here and if they don’t then they damn sure will take care of 7 points.

Short and sweet…

Some Rankings

Ranking the SEC
#1 ALABAMA
#2 FLORIDA
#3 GEORGIA
#4 LSU
#5 SOUTH CAROLINA
#6 OLE MISS
#7 AUBURN
#8 ARKANSAS
#9 TENNESSE
#10 MISS STATE
#11 VANDY
#12 KENTUCKY

With a Ga victory over LSU
#3 UGA
#4 SO CAR
#5 OLE MISS
#6 LSU

With a LSU victory over Georgia
#3 LSU
#4 UGA

the reason I drop LSU further down then UGA is the fact that it would prove that LSU isn’t that good of a team with almost an upset by Miss St and you would have to pick Ole Miss or USC over LSU at that point. The fact that Ga has already beaten USC makes it harder for them to fall below them this early in the season.

NEXT IS UT HOSTING AUBURN

I actually think Auburn wins this game and my rankings reflect it. I don’t think I would change anything at all if this were to happen.
HOWEVER if UT takes care of business and hands Auburn a loss here then I’m dropping Auburn down to #9 and moving UT up a spot to #8, that would move Arkansas up to the #7 spot.

As for the rest of the Nation, My top 5
#1 Alabama
#2 Florida
#3 Texas
#4 Va Tech#5 USC

The Panel's Results

#1 Jody @ .500
UGA –11 ½, they have to hit a field goal with no time left to win the game, hardly a “cod lock” Jody. And the Vandy –7 pick? vandy was probably the best pick of the week here and that’s why Jody gets the “PICKER OF THE WEEK”

#2 “SLAY YOUR BOOKIE” John S @ .330
it says a lot about the quality of the picks here when the person that comes in 2nd place had .330 winning percentage. If John would have put a $100 on each of his picks he would have “PAID HIS BOOKIE” $120. But still he comes in second

#3 Rusty Teez @ .250
It all started on Thursday night when Rusty picked Ole Miss and the over starting his Thursday off 0 and 2. then it goes into Friday night with Mizzo and Rusty says, “this game will clear 70 points.” There were 52 points scored in the game. If it was not for the wisc game rusty would have not won a game.

#4 Reese @ .250
Lsu was a double digit favorite and almost lost straight up. “Penn st wins by 21” is what Reese said about this game and Penn St loses straight up at home. The Fla game going over was never going to happen. Notre Dame –7, are you kidding me. This teams “looks pretty good” to you. I see now why you are sitting at .200

#5 D.F.L.
the man himself. I come up with 2 picks sometime 3. when I go down I go down hard. And this week I went down in flames. Sitting @ .000, 0 and 2.

As a panel we went 4 and 12. WOW.

Leonards Losers you better watch out, the ______________ is the blog version and we are going to take over.

We need a name for this panel, send me your ideas

Jody's Picks 9/26

Jody's "Nutt Locks"

ok, I told you guys last week that Jody wants everyone to see how good he can pickem' but doesnt want to write reasons why. well i wouldn't have agreeded to do it again but he did go 2 and 0 last week and so lets see what Jody is thinking.

Georgia -11 1/2
Jody did tell me on the phone that this is the week that the Dawgs "click" and they put up big numbers and hold ASU to very few points

Vandy -7 "uab beat rice" - thats all that was said guys. sorry if this isnt much help but the guy did go 2/0 last week

Thursday, September 24, 2009

John Starrett "slay your bookie" 9/24

OK, I will preface these picks with the statement that I know the BAA (Bookie Alliance of America) is currently pulling all the stops to get "SLAY YOUR BOOKIE" picks off of the world wide web. Fortunately to all the readers, they have not achieved this goal as of yet. Let's get started...

This week we are gonna lay a lot of chalk and we are staying at home in the SEC. Usually a good rule of thumb is to take the dog when receiving double digit points at home in the SEC. Well, to hell with conventional wisdom because its time to SLAY YOUR BOOKIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LSU vs MSU

Ok, here we have a classic trap game. LSU has UGA and Florida the next two weeks on its schedule. They are also laying 12.5 points on the road. Two strikes against LSU. But, they have superior talent and it will show come Saturday. Lay the 12.5 and .....SLAY YOUR BOOKIE!!!!!!

ASU vs UGA

Another trap game with UGA looking ahead to LSU and Tenn the next two weeks. However, ASU has maybe one player that could start at UGA (DE Dexter Davis). He won't be enough to stop this offense and the D for UGA rebounds and smacks ASU back to the west coast. Lay the 11.5 and ........SLAY YOUR BOOKIE!!!!!!!!
(check out the Arizona State chicks... hubba hubba! i dont think i have said hubba hubba in 22 years.)

Florida vs Kentucky

Meyer will be trying to iron out the wrinkles in his spread offense against Kentucky this week. To make this short, he will succeed. Lay the 21.5 and .........SLAY YOUR BOOKIE!!!!!

Rusty T's picks 9/24

OK, so i couldn't have scripted the Miami/gt game any better but at the same time I couldn't have been more wrong on the fsu/byu game. For that, i appologise but I'm about to make it upto you by going 3-0 this week. Also, on a side note, I'd like to publicly gongradulate my vols for their efforts last weekend in the swamp. Thanks for not embarrassing me boys. Also, to Mason Singletary for his comments, Go Fuckyaself

Miss/SCMiss - 3.5tonight at 7:45 Normally I don't like taking road favorites on nationally televised games but the Rebels need to get big wins in games like this if they want a shot at the national title and I promise you that's allthey are thinking about these days. Expectations are high in Oxford. The Rebels have won 8 of their last nine after scoring more than 35 points. They have won four of their last five against South Carolina and know how to beat them. The home team has come up short in the last five meetings ATS and the Rebels should cover the small number against Steve Spurrier and his Cocks. I say give up up the points and take the Rebels tonight. (On a side note, I like the over tonight as except for the bad taste that nc state game left in my mouth. Just something to think about) - Plus Ole Miss women making my mouth water. I cant tell you what i would do to some of them.

Mich state/Wisconsin -3

Saturday at noon Wisconsin is only a 3-point favorite at home over Michigan State. This is not the correct line with the Spartans coming off back-to-back heartbreakers to Central Michigan and Notre Dame. The Badgers are 5-0 in their last 5 at home. The Badgers have won 4 of their last 5 home games vs. Michigan State. After losing to the Spartans 24-25 on the road last year, you can bet that revenge is in the air Wisconsin players who have not forgotten that heart breaker. The Badgers out rushed the Spartans 281-25 in that game, which are numbers that would usually lead to a Wisconsin win. Expect similar numbers this weekend, only this time it will be enough for them to get their payback.. The Badgers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite of 0.5 to 3 points.Wisconsin is a silent 3-0 and flying under the radar.Take Wisconsin and lay the points.

Rusty's Parlay Booster Nevada/Missouri Friday night game. I don't know who is gonna beat the spread in this game and to be honest, I couldn't care less. However,I can tell you one thing. There are gonna be a lot of points scored. The over/under is set at 60 now, it was at 56 just yesterday so it's clear which way people are betting. I'll be shocked if this game total doesn't clear 70. Take the over if you're looking to pad a parlay.

Till next week, happy gambling!Rusty Thomas Out

Reese's Sept 26th picks

LSU -12.5 @ Miss St LSU running game and defense will be too much for the lack of talent at MSU. Mad Hatter runs this one up in Starkville.

NCST -1 vs Pitt NCST is the highest scoring offense in the ACC which isn’t saying much, but they’re going against Wandstache. That dude sux.

UF & Kentucky over 54 UF may cover this one on their own. I look for Rich Brooks to have few tricks up his sleeve for at least 21 pts. If the weather is good, jump all over this.

Penn St -9.5 vs Iowa This is going to be a whiteout game and Penn St is looking for revenge from last years last second loss. Penn St also hasn’t covered this year so they win by 21 with the Spread HD clicking.

ND -7 @ Purdue ND hasn’t played poorly this year. From everything I’ve seen they are actually pretty good. From the little I’ve watched Purdue they suck ball bags.

I know you hate when I have a lot of picks but that’s how I cover my ass. I’ll put it up but let me know how.

My picks - Week of Sept 26th

Wake Forrest –2 1/2
Boston College
Total 41

This line came out at 6:46 pm Sunday night at BC –1 ½ and by 7:06 (just 20 min later) it had moved 4 points to Wake –2 ½. This SCREAMED at me. So naturally I went searching for a reason why. I thought surly someone is hurt. Is it Riley Skinner? No. Who then? No one. The only reason this line moved this much is because of the amount of action they got right off the bat on Wake. No body moves a line 4 pts that quick. BC had their first true test last week against an average Clemson team and BC looked bad, real bad. Their leading rusher had 21 yards and their leading receiver had just 13. They went 1 – 12 on 3rd downs and they only had 4 total 1st downs. Clemson’s Defense isn’t great, BC just doesn’t have any play makers. Now Wake Forest. Riley Skinner is the real deal, how ever Wake doesn’t have any play makers either other than Skinner. That’s why Riley himself had to take it in for the go ahead TD with 1 second left to beat Stanford at home. “Wait Joe, first you got me thinking Wake. Now you got me thinking BC?” I know, I know, I know. The answer is Wake and the Under for my very first Cod Lock Parlay. Both teams know that they will not have to score many points to win so they will play it very conservatively.
Wake wins 20 to 13

Alabama –17 ½
Arkansas

I want to preface this for all my Alabama friends and readers that I think Alabama is one of the best teams in the SEC. I feel that they have the best chance to beat Fla in the SEC championship this year and I hope they do. Ok, now that that is out of the way I can tell yall why I don’t think they cover this number. Last year Alabama’s first 2 SEC home games Bama was laying 15 and 11 ½ against a mediocre Kentucky team and a improving Ole Miss team. By no means were either one of these teams as well coached or as talented as Alabama and yet they both hung in the games until the very end. I see the same thing happening this week. Bobby Petrino is as good as anybody at taking advantage of a teams weakness and if, I say IF!!!, there is a weakness on Alabama’s defense then it would be their secondary. Ryan Mallet is a great QB that can and will put the ball where only his player can make the catch and boy do they make the catch. Last year Alabama really had their way with Arkansas and that cant be forgotten by the razorbacks. Teams don’t like to get embarrassed and that’s exactly what bama did to them last year. Figure that with coming off a home loss and I don’t think Arkansas needs much more motivation to at least come in this game fighting. I don’t think this game is as close as last years UK or Miss games but I do see it being a little closer than 17 ½. Even if it isn’t and Alabama does great then you still have the potential of a back door cover.

Alabama 31
Arkansas 24

Note. If I see the two little sluts that wear the hounds tooth hats 80 times during this game I’m going to scream. Yes they are hot, but come on. I have been to Tuscaloosa before and they have a lot of hot women up there.

Slay your bookie - from john starett

john, i like your style. a little cheesy, but i like it.

Slay your bookie segment picks....
California vs. Minnesota

California should run up and down the field on an overvalued middle of the road Big 10 Minnesota squad. Jahvid Best is one of the premier running backs in the country and he'll showcase why in this one. Lay the 13.5 and, SLAY YOUR BOOKIE!!!
(minnesota are the gophers if your what the picture is for)

North Texas vs. Bama

Classic look ahead game here. Alabama has Arkansas next week and they will be uninterested in covering this ridiculous spread. Saban will definitely rest Julio Jones as much as possible due to his injury last week. Alabama wins the game but North Texas covers with ease. Take the 39.5 points in this one and, SLAY YOUR BOOKIE!!!
(google "north texas" images and this came up - had to include it)
I will probably have to start charging for my picks in coming weeks if you want to continue to put them on your blog Joe, just a heads up.

Georgia Arkansas

I don’t like this game. I don’t like the fact that Georgia just had a 4 hour grudge match against a very physical South Carolina team. Our Defense was on the field, what felt like, the whole game. Arkansas was off last week and resting. Then lets top it off with losing our Defensive end (and leader on the line) Rod Battle and then lets load this team up and give Arkansas one extra day to practice and study us while we travel and they stay at home. Now we do have Houston back from a 2 game suspension so that will help on the line.

What I know (and think I know) about Arkansas.

They have an offense that will hit short yardage passes over and over and over and then go deep. That worries me with prince miller getting burned. We give up a big play early and the crowd (full of fat hogs by the way) could get rowdy.

I didn’t see the game with Missouri State. On the box score (thats a link guys, click box score and it will take you to it - pretty cool huh?) a couple of things jumped out at me. 1) Ark 3 – 10 on 3rd down conversions BUT 3/3 on 4th down. Why did they go for 4th down 3 times against Missouri State? Hmmmmmm one time it was in the 3rd qt and they were up 48 – 10. the only reason they were doing this (I think) is to practice for what is ahead. I see the Hogs going for it on 4th down a good bit in this game, so don’t get all excited when we stop them on 3rd down. 2) 2nd and Long – this is where I feel the game will be decided. (of course besides mistakes, turnovers, big plays, and all the other bullshit that is obvious when talking about the out come of a ball game) 2nd and Long is where I feel slick Willie will….. who knows. Lets hope this is where he has the guys ready and we put enough pressure with the front 4 that we have enough guys in the back to protect.

Ryan Mallett every thing you want to know about this kid he has his own web site if you click DOUCHE BAG you will go right to it. Cliff notes. Big guy, rocket arm, good in the pocket, not real fast. Everything else is BS. Another words, our guys up front HAVE TO GET PRESSURE ON THIS DOUCHE BAG!!!

am i the only person that hate bobby P?

Bobo calls a good game. Slick Willie has the boys ready and shuts them down. Mark Richt stands there looking cool (in his own mind)
Georgia 31
Arkansas 24

Rusty's Guaranteed Cod Locks

Miami/GT Tonight

Everyone saw the Clemson/tech game and granted it was a lot of fun to watch. However, Tech unveiled their one true weakness in the second half of this gameand that was their secondary which looked like a high school team. Clemson managedto light em up in the air. Now, with Miami coming in off of 10 days rest in what manybelieve to be their break out season, this could be trouble for the Jackets. Miami hasfinally found the stud quarter back they've been dreaming about in Jacery Harris. Harristhrew up a ridiculous 386 yards in a not so upsetting upset over the noles. Imaginewhat he'll do against the weakest secondary in the conference. The jackets will be depending on their running game which is to be arguably one ofthe best in the acc led by Jonathan Dwyer ( 2008 acc player of the rear ) However,Dwyer was held to just 66 yards on 18 carries against Clemson. As long as Miamican do just as good a job as clemson at containing the run then this game won'tbe much of a contest.

Take MIAMI tonight and give up the 4.5 points

BYU?Fla state

Let's face it, this just ain't the Noles of old. If you think Florida Sate has a chance in this game then you're as senile as Bobby Bowden is.This game should be a lot of fun to watch as both teams have gunslinger type QB's sothere should be a lot of yards in the air.Fla. State is coming off a heart breaking loss to their in state rivals down in MIAMI, then they followed that up with an embarrassing 19-9 victory over a division 2 school.BYU has been one of the biggest surprises of 2009 thus far by taking out the defendingBig 12 champions in Oklahoma and then followed that up by absolutely raping Toledo54-3 last week. The difference in this game is gonna be defense and the edge in that department definitely goes to the BYU Cougars who held Oklahoma to 13 points and Toledo to a single, pitiful littlefield goal.Florida State is 7 point dogs tonight but if you ask me it should be closer to 14.Take BYU big time

this is from Jody Linton...
"If you want to look smart on your blog these are nutt locks.

Fla State +7

Central Fla -4

Take it to the bank"

ok jody, first of all this blog has high standards to up hold and if you ever want to see your name (or face) on it again then you need to be giving my readers why you like these games. they don't know you. they don't trust you. they need FACTS my friend. FACTS. And nice Micheal Jackson pose, homo...

Picks from Reese for this week sept 17

OU -15.5 has better athletes than Tulsa and are getting into a groove with another highly recruited QB Landry Jones. Tulsa lost OC Malzhan to ‘burn. It’s gonna hurt them. A&M -17.5 just because they’ve been playing good ball and Utah St may be the worst team in college football. A&M has been throwing the piss out of the ball. I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen A&M play. FSU +7.5 coming off a bad week against JSU has something to prove. They have way better athletes than BYU. Yes, BYU plays better “team” football than FSU but I look for Mickey Andrews (a Bear Bryant disciple) to take out Max Hall and ruin BYU’s undefeated season hopes. I’d go moneyline on this one. Stanford -18 has one of the top 5 football coaches in Jim Harbaugh. He has smart solid players. Toby Gerhart will run over your fucking face in a minute. Yeah, they are coming off a loss to an equally sound and smart football team in Wake Forest, but I look for them to get it going this week. The only thing SJST has going for them is their coach (Dick Tomey) is the innovator or the Desert Swarm Double Eagle Flex D he brought to Arizona back in the early 90’s. Tough shit he doesn’t have Teddy Bruschi and 7 other boys from the ’92 team that later went onto the NFL. I’m also looking at GT getting 4.5 pts against Da U. I don’t advise taking this because this may be the Homer in me. However, if you look back to GT playing last year after getting dogged in the media and by Vegas, they come out looking for somebody’s ass to get in. PJ and Co. will get it done. F the points……….Moneyline baby.

(i have a great picture of reese coming soon)

Cod Locks for the week of Sept 17th

UT @ UF
Georgia fans, do you rememeber watching the Gerogia/Florida game last year? Do you rememeber ESPN showing the emnd zone dance from the year before over and over and over? What was the out come of that game? 49 – 10 and the line was only 7 ½!! This UT team is not that good. Crompton’s TD:INT ratio is 5:5. Last week against UCLA I think UT turned the ball over 5 times and anytime UCLA put the ball on the ground UT couldn’t recover it. I enjoyed watching the UT / UCLA game but after watching Fla play a pretty good Troy team and just play with them, if I was a UT man I wouldn’t make the trip to the swamp.

Florida - 56
UT – 17 (welcome to the SEC Kiff)

Middle Tenn St @ Maryland
Maryland went in to overtime against James Madison last week. WOW!! And Middle Tenn St has Tony Franklin as its new Offensive Cordinator. Ol Tony didn’t fair to well at Auburn but I don’t think that it was all his fault. He seems to have Middle Tenn St doing well I think that he well get better and better the longer he is there. Remember that Franklin was very successful at Troy. I think that Middle Tenn St upsets Maryland here.

MTS - 33UM – 28
the young lady in the picture is a student at Middle Tenn State. her picture came up when i was looking for a picture to put up and since she is Miss Middle Tenn State i thought why not include her.

Steinhatchee

Steinhatchee is in Florida on the Gulf coast about 60 miles west of Gainesville. It is full of nothing but biting insects and Fish. This trip was not my first but it was for my company. Culpepper, Rusty, and Mark all were going for the first time. we meet down at Franky T's house on Friday night and had a low country boil. we started out heating up the water and with some new potatoes. about a hour later we had built a fire and applied bug spray 8 times but the water had not started boiling yet. then we realized that we had the burner upside down. so we turned up right and with in 5 minutes the water was boiling and the potatoes were cooking. after adding some sausage, corn, and shrimp we had a good meal. Broke out the poker chips and all started arguing about college football. Rusty is a UT fan, Culpepper Auburn, Mark Alabama. and of course myself Georgia.

Saturday morning got up about 5 am, went to the docks to get our rented boat and set out on the open sea. Just 4 guys, 2 coolers of beer, and smiles. First cast, culpepper lands a nice Red Fish. we get it in the boat and then the conversation starts... how long does a Red Fish need to be to be a keeper? Who has the ruler? You got to be kidding me. no one knows how big a fish needs to be? how about trout? how about anything!?!?! anyway, we learned our lesson to make sure you take a ruler when going on the open sea. So we fished for a little while longer and decided to go south a couple of miles. then Mark noticed a storm WAY off in the distance. "that storm cant be 30 miles from here" i said. Then rusty starts counting mississippi's from lighting to thunder so he could figure out exactly how far away it is. so we keep fishing because Rusty and I determine how far away the storm is and how fast its moving and what direction its moving in. About 10 to 15 minutes go by and Culpepper says, "hey guys, i think that storm is moving in on us pretty fast." So then Rusty and I explain to Culpepper how to figure out how far away a storm is and he isnt interested in listening. Then about that time the Radio says, "dead weight to see hag." "see hag, go ahead." "how bad is this storm that's coming in and how fast is it moving?" "their is a lot of lightning and its moving in on us pretty fast, we recommend coming in." ok, so maybe storms move faster on water than they do land.... that's when the rain started. then the hard rain. then the lighting. then the hard wind, rain, lighting, thunder, waves, and fear. we couldn't see 20 feet in front of us and we had no clue how far south we had went. This was probably about a category 4 hurricane. maybe a bad 3 but could have been a 4. it was crazy. Where the hell is the #1 bouie? I slow the engine, "Guys, i don't know where we are," i tell the crew. Mark asks, "you think we passed it?" "I dont think so" rusty said, "but we could have." "this ain't good guys," culpepper makes clear. Radio calls out, "Marina to Rental boat 1, marina to rental boat 1." i grab the C.B. "this is rental boat 1, go ahead." "we are just checking on you guys." "we headed in." we pursue north and Finally! we see the #1 bouie. we are safe. we come into the marina, dock the boat and all get out like we are seasoned vets that were not worried one bit. when actually we all were scared as hell. so we walk up to the bar, order a beer and start talking about our story. already we were telling each others perspective on what was going on and what we were thinking. the football players that drowned kept coming up. I was referring to myself as Capt. and i liked it. We get a bite to eat and the rain passed so we decide to go back out. this time with a ruler by god.

we get back out and since we had such bad luck going south we decided to go north this time. after we noticed that there is a HUGE ruler on the side of the boat we realized that we have to ways to measure any fish that we do catch. we start catching some fish but no keepers but at least we are catching. The beer is tasting good, the sun is shining and we are feeling good. im still referring to myself as captian also. Mark comes over and checks the gas container. "guys the gas is looking kinda low," Mark expains. then i tell him, "step back and let the captian take a look. ahw shit, we got plenty a gas." so we keep fishing and fishing and fishing. also drinking a good bit of beer. well we start heading back in stopping and fishing along the way and on the last stop, right before 5.00, the engine dont start. "i told you we wouldn't have enough gas." Mark reminds me. "Jesus Christ Joe, are you serious?" culpepper asks. "why are you guys not referring to me as Capt anymore?" i ask. "BECAUSE WE ARE OUT OF GAS!!! CAPTAIN DIP SHIT!!" culpepper answers. Rusty then tells me, "call the marina on the radio and tell them to bring us gas.... captain." i'm picking up some sarcasm in the "captain" part. I pick up the CB and pause...... "i dont want to come over the radio and say we are out of gas," i say. Rusty then says, "Well what do you recommend we do?.... captain." again, sarcasm on the captain part. "alright, alright, alright, ill say we are having engine problems and it may be the gas," i explain. "yea joe, thats a great idea," culpepper says in his smart ass voice. "Rental boat 1 to marina, Rental boat 1 to marina" - "marina, go ahead" - "yea we got some engine problems and it may be gas" - "hang on rental boat, ill get a mechanic to call you back" - at this point we are all chuckling at ourselves. then mark yells, "what the hell is that?" "thats a sting ray," culpepper says, "catch it Rusty, you hadnt caught anything else all day." rusty then throws out, ray swims right to his bait, then his drag goes screaming.... "AHHH I GOT HIM, now what the hell do i do?" Rusty asks. we get the sting ray to the boat and then he snaps the line. nice way to burn up the time. "marina to rental boat 1" - "rental boat 1 go ahead" - "where are you guys located?"....."oh shit, how do we tell them where we are?" i ask the crew with no help of course. "come out of the mouth of the river and go north." "10-4" - ok, that was easy. so we keep drinking beer and enjoying the time out on the water. when the mechanics find us they say, "the gas hand dont work on this one and we just put a new motor on it so shes prolly burnin more gas than she should." I say, "thats good information, be good to have that about 3 hours ago." they snicker, why im now sure but i think they kind of enjoyed seeing us run out of gas.

When we get back we go to the bar and grill and order dinner. we had planned on having a fish fry but we only had 2 keepers all day. So we ordered burgers and they could have been the best burgers i have ever had. Culpepper ordered some kind of stuff that was horrible as an appetizer but he was the only one that ate any of it. we get back to the house, shower, and all sit down and watch Lemony Snicket. I know, the selection was slim.

sunday didn't have near the adventure, but we did choose to partake in the scalloping fun. we felt gay at first, but didnt know just how much fun it would be to find these little boogers. AND they are mean. the first one we found snapped at us and it scared us. Any way, we are gonna make another trip sometime in the future - maybe November. im sure it will be a good trip and you know that you will be able to read all about it.

ill add some pictures to this story soon.
