What is lost

What is being lost in this Cam Newton deal is that the Auburn Tigers are having one of their best seasons.  Cam Newton has become one of the best QB’s,and game changers, that we have seen since… well, since Tebow - but who ever thought that we would have another Tebow this soon?  Dyer just broke Bo Jackson’s freshman record.  The Chizz, in only his 2nd year, could be the National Coach of the year.  And the only thing that anyone is talking about is the scandal..  I don’t know about yall - but I hate the fact that a SEC school, like them or not, is having to go threw this.  If they are guilty then they will get there punishment, believe me!  The NCAA will rape them if they find out that Auburn did anything wrong.  But why can’t anyone sit back and say, “this team is doing an unbelievable job”

I don’t know about any of yall, but I refuse to watch Auburn and talk about the scandal.  I am not going to deprive myself of enjoying an unbelievable team and an unbelievable player just because we “Think” we may know something..  Guilty or Not, we will find that out sooner or later -  But until then, I plan on enjoying some good football.

As for the Iron Bowl.  Kirby Smart and Alabama’s Defense is the first team to make Jordan Jefferson look like a real QB but let me say this, as long as the Sabanator is walking on the side line and the game is being played in T-Town then the Tide has a good chance to win.  And give this guy 2 weeks (I understand that they are played a game this week but come on) and the “chances” of the Tide to win go up.  I believe that the Tide has more than just a chance to win.  The ref’s will be watching Fairley as close as they have all year.  Like him or not, a ton of his plays are “judgment” calls and those will be leaning in the Tide’s favor.  Ingram and Richardson have been very quit lately and the O-Line has been heavily criticized.  That typically isnt good for the oppenent.  Just as we have seen Auburn’s Defense come to life over the last couple of weeks because of all of the heavy criticism they got, I see the Tide’s Line doing the same thing.

Cam Newton has handled all of this scrutiny and negative attention about as good as anyone could imagine.  But what he is about to face will be a whole different story than on the Plains.  This Alabama crowd will be nasty.  And I say that as a compliment.   If he can go in to T-Town and come away with a win to complete an undefeated regular season… Well then it will be truly special… But that isn’t going to happen.

Alabama wins the Iron Bowl.

  1. Without Cam Newton, they don't have this season. There is no way to disconnect the two at this point. My 13 year old nephew quoted something to me last night and it went something like this: "Tebow could run the ball, hit you and gain another 10 yards. Newton can run the ball, hit you and break off a 60 yarder." He is that good. Freakishly good. Scary good.

Think about it Joe...when people talk about beating Auburn they start by saying "If you can just stop Cam Newton...." and so far that shit hasn't happened. While I hate giving props to anything or anyone connected to Auburn, the guy is unreal. But at the same time, that is the same reason that you cannot ignore the scandal when you talk about him or Auburn football.

If this thing runs as deep as some people are saying, Auburn is in serious trouble. However, until any evidence comes out, it is a waste of time to talk about. You know that I am a die hard Alabama fan and would like nothing more that to have Auburn stripped of this season (and kick Anthony Lee right in the fucking testes), but the fact remains that at this point it is just talk. I will, however, say this. At one point in time I was one of those people that defended athletes because as a sports fan I grew up idolizing athletes and thought they could do no wrong. But if history has taught us anything its that when there is smoke, there is fire.

You know, the sad part is that whether he was paid or not, he is a helluva an athlete. There isn't a coach out there that wouldn't take his skill set in a heart beat. If anything Joe, that is the saddest part. Money didn't make him the athlete that he is, just like it didn't make Reggie Bush the player that he was at USC.

Anyway, I still hate Anthony Lee and would like nothing more than to have Alabama drop a steaming pile on the dreams of a national championship.
