Two things on my mind.
1. I'm proud to be a GT fan. My team actually played like a team last night for the first time this year. If Joshua F'n Nesbitt doesn't go down for the season we blow the turkeys out.
2. Auburn and Cam Newton are a bunch of cheaters. Fuck them.
Typically I would jump all over the Auburn story if, for nothing else, to get a rise out of people. But let's face it, players get paid or compensated in one way or another at all colleges. It is just the way it is. CFB is big business and the top players are always going to get something. I truly hope that nothing comes of this and that there are no distractions going into the Iron Bowl. If, and it a big IF, Alabama wins out, the Iron Bowl is going to be HUGE.
Sucks about Nesbitt. Exciting to watch. Also sucks that VT keeps winning. It validates Boise State that much more and makes it harder for Bama to jump them in the polls.
Reese this is at least the 5th time this year you have requested that someone suck your balls, so far none of them have been women. I don't care what you do on your own time but please don't bring that to our blog.
Of course I am nervous that Cam might be letting us all down but I still believe in innocent until proven guilty, and the NCAA has been looking at this for a month and has no allegations yet. Kenny Rogers is a sleeze he being investigated by the NCAA and the NFL and on top of that usually an agent pays a player to get them to sign with them in the NFL, I have never heard an agent asking and athletic department to pay for a player. That to me makes this kind of fishy especially since the guy in the AD he contacted is a guy he played college ball with. I think he thought Cam was already going to Miss St. and tried to squeeze some cash of the situation thinking his old QB wouldn't rat him out.
Joe, you bring up a good point. It also relates to the Reggie Bush scandal. The fact that Reggie took money didn't make him a better athlete. All the money in the world can't buy a person athletic ability. And in this case, Cam Newton is still the best player in college football. Hands down. End of conversation. I agree with Pecker that it seems fishy to just be coming out, but I completely disagree with believing innocent until proven guilty. I have tried that too many times with athletes and have come to realize that when there is smoke, there is fire. He might not ever be penalized, but he got compensated somehow.
On another topic, what does our panel think about the Bama - LSU game this weekend? If the Bama team that showed up in the 3rd quarter of the Tennessee game comes to play, I like our chances. However, if we pull some bullshit like first half Arkansas or the South Carolina game, it is going to be bad.
Well AJ gets 4 games for accepting a $1,000 payment for a jersey. If we play fairly Cam should get a 800 game suspension for $200k right? Pulley, shut up about Bama, no one cares. They are irrelevant. Good day.
I think you all are being unfair to Scam Newton. the guy deserves the benefit of the doubt here. i mean its not like he has ever been arrested for anything...
I think Cam wanted to come home and play for UGA and he knew based on their track record UGA would think more highly of him as a recruit if he had a run in with the law.
