16 – 20

1)Bama; 2)Ohio st; 3)Boise St; 4)VT; 5)Texas; 6)Fla; 7) Iowa; 8)Nebraska; 9)TCU; 10)USC; 11)Arkansas; 12)Pitt; 13)LSU; 14)OU'; 15)Miami

Best of the Rest

Wisconsin – finished last year 10-3 and has 17 returning starters including a QB

FSU – All new Defensive coaches, New Head Coach – and this team wasn’t all that good last year.

Stanford – To me the only reason this team is being mentioned is their QB being one of the best in the Pac-10 and the fact that anybody could win the Pac

UNC – Probably about the time we should start considering the Tar Heels.

Georgia Tech – I’m thinking around the 17ish range

Washington – Who’s do you like more, Stanford or Washington?  which ever it is gets to be in the Top 20 and the other will probably slide out of the top 25

Penn St – Finished last year ranked #9 but lost, not just the QB, their leader.

Cinncy – When tony Pike went down Zach Collaros (i googled it) stepped in with a 75% accy with 10 TD’s and 2 picks.  he may not have the build as Pike but I dont think their will be a huge drop off, if any, in the QB position.  The Coaching worries me more than anything.

Oregon State, Utah, and UConn are in the talks.

I don’t think that Georgia or Auburn disserves to be in the Top 25 even though I think both will end up there.

  2. I'll leave out FSU because nobody likes them but me.
I could see 10 different teams in 16-20.

    16. GT
    17. UNC
    18. Wisc
    19. UConn
    20. Auburn

You could swap 18-20 with FSU, USF, Penn St, and even WVU.

  4. Here's my thing, and I know I'm a homer. UGA definitely needs to be in the discussion at this point. We return 10 offensive starters! And I know we have a new QB, but look at what he has around him. AJ Green, best WR in the country. Probably the best TE units in the country with Charles, White, and Figgins (hopefully Arthur Lynch will get a redshirt). An experienced OL coming back anchored by Clint Boling and Ben Jones (Sturdivant may be back). Caleb King and Washaun Ealey will have good years running the ball and open up the passing game. On defense, we lost a lot of DT's. Good news is we are switching to a 3-4 where we only need one DT on the field at one time. Curran will be missed, but I think we'll be ok. I'm personally glad Prince Miller is gone and I don't think it will be hard to replace Rashad Jones with our talented safety unit. We return the top kicking game in the nation with Drew Butler and Blair Walsh. Not sure why you think we don't deserve to be in the talk Joe, but hopefully this piece will open your eyes.

  5. I'm really excited about this year for the reasons you mentioned - i think that we have the right people (coaches) on Defense and our special teams (specifically kick off) will be much improved - the reason I dont think we deserve a top 25 bid PRESEASON is the fact that last year we went 8-5 (4-4) and we are coming into this year with a very young first year QB and all new coaches on the Defensive side of the ball (except for gardner) - you mentioned the losing DT's, last year we were basically running a 3 man rotation and we lost all 3 of them - and in the 3-4 i think you would agree that the nose and the middle lb would be the most important and like you said we lost curran also

that said, i think any improvement on defense will win more games and being a homer i tried to look at it just on paper. 8-5 team w/ all new d coaches and new qb

  6. No, I really like Auburn. I watched them a good bit last year and on offense they looked like they were still playing slow and not able to just play without thinking. Year 2 in Malzhan's offense should be a lot smoother and more potent. The question is on D. If they can step up on D they'll mess up some teams quest for a championship. They have the fire power to win the West.

  7. Ok, first of all, his name is Rodney Garner, lol. DeAngelo Tyson was a 5 star recruit coming out of high school and should fill in nicely at the nose with Kwame Geathers (Robert Geathers' of the Cincinatti Bengals brother) being second in line. You also have Justin "Bean" Anderson moving to the nose from the OL where he's recorded several starts the past two years because of his size and OL depth. We are loaded with backers, and Rennie was not a MLB. UGA is in the discussion. We ended the year beating ACC champion GT and waxing A&M in the bowl game. You must remember about the QB, we aren't trying to replace Matthew Stafford this year, our QB play will be greatly improved from a season ago.

  8. nicely presented - where are you thinking they should be? 20ish? and do you agree with reese on auburn?

wisc - GT - UNC look like they are going to be the 16,17, and 18 teams if you also agree, we just need to find their order.

  12. Why would I put a Tech team who I think will not be as good as they were last year in front of a UGA team that I think will be better than last year and beat that better Tech team. Makes no sense. You can't lose Dwyer, Be'Be', Morgan, Burnett and think you'll be better this year.

  13. Explain to me how GT should be above UGA Joe. Makes absolutely no sense at all.

  14. And by the way, where are you buying your crack Pepper? UNC is returning 9 starters on defense, not 11.

  15. i had a feeling that we would run into some problems once we got to the point that ga, aub, and tech would come in.

I'm going to pursue some outside non-bias sources that i have respect for.

  16. I feel like I'm a pretty fair judge being a Tech fan. I think UGAy should be in the 22ish range.

John boy: Tech will be a better team this year. PJ finally has some of his linemen rotating in. Anthony Allen will be at B back. He's going to more of a true B back(think Kyle Eckel at Navy with dreads and a little better speed).Dwyer was a homerun threat but not really a 3 and 4 yd dive play type of back. Double A will be.

The A back(slot backs for you cod sacks) will be hybrid type backs(a mix of RB/WR). Chris Jackson (transfer from Bama) will be one of these.

Stephen Hill will replace Bay Bay. He doesn't have the blocking skills but is faster than Bay Bay and better hands.

The D sucked pretty bad last year. As bad as ya'll thought the Dawgs were just multiply that by 10 and that's how bad Tech was. Tech didn't force a punt in like 4 or 5 games last year. The D with Al Groh may not be clicking to where he wants them to be but I bet you they are a top 35 D and a helluva lot better than the '09 D.

  17. I am buying my crack from UGAy fans who think they should be in the top 20. Reese I appreciate the confidence and I agree with you but.......as much as I love AU I can't put an 8-5 team that lost it's QB in the top 25. Same with UGA it is just to much of a stretch for either team for me. I say neither are in the top 25 until these young QBs show us something.

  18. Whatever you homer. Pepper, lay into this homer's assessment of his own team. Make it good and nasty.

  19. We will have far superior QB play this year over last year, end of story.
