Best NCAA F Ball team you've ever seen???

I know football is done, but we are on the brink of Spring ball and I got to thinking......who is the best team I've ever seen play? I want to know who is the best team you've ever seen play and I'm not gonna let you say 1980 Dawgs, because most of you were still "shittin yella" when Hershel wore silver britches. Ya'll know I'm a Tech fan and I'm biased towards the 1990 Jackets, but 2 teams immediately stuck out in my head, the 1992 Alabama Crimson Tide coached by Gene Stallings (with all of Bill Curry's recruits) and the 1995 Nebraska "Big Red Machine" Corn Huskers. I have to say that Bama team was awesome on D and maybe the best I've ever seen, but that '95 Nebraska team beats anything I've seen to date. I really think those boys could line up and physically man handle the teams today. Whatchew say?????

  1. 2001 Miami Hurricanes... before anyone says a word i want you to find a team that can say this. of the 22 starters (both offense and defense) this team had 10 guys drafted in the first round, 1 guy in the 2nd round, 1 guy in the 3rd round, 2 guys in the 4th round, and 1 guy in the 7th... with a total of 15 of the 22 guys getting drafted and nearly half the starters were 1st rounders.. this was the most talented team in college football history and we were able to watch them. i mean hell, they won the national championship with larry cocker as the head coach.

  2. you know the more i look at this team i dont know why this team inst talked about more. listen to this.. they played 5 ranked teams that year and out scored them 236 to 72 including a 37-14 national championship against the corn huskers

  3. Just because you have a bunch of fast Haitians on a team doesn't make them the best "TEAM" ever.

  4. dude, check the numbers. this Miami team would shut down that nebraska team

  5. 95 Nebraska averaged 53 points a game and had an average margine of victory of 38 points. They beat #8 Kansas St 40-25, #7 Colorado 44-21, #10 Kansas 41-3, and #2 Florida 62-24. Not to mention everyone knew they were going to run the ball and they averaged an NCAA record 7 yards a carry. I don't think we will ever see anonther a team in our lifetime beat 4 top 10 teams by that margine again.

  6. miami played 5 top 15 teams and avg margin of victory over these teams were 33 and nebraska over the top 15 teams they played avg winning by 28. nebraska isnt a clear cut choice here. you have to give some cred to the canes.

  7. The canes were very good and deserve to be in the conversation, but IMHO the better team is the '95 huskers. Stop saying the canes waxed Nebraska in the Championship game. That's like saying Nebraska whipped the canes in the '94 game.

  8. dude, i would love to pick neb over miami but the fact is i cant. the talent level on that cane team was just sick, i mean sick. dude, it was almost like a nfl farm team... sorry, but the 01 canes are the best college football team ever. so change the picture on the post or atleast add the canes. ask greg where he stands on this.

  9. Better yet. Ask The Ole Ball Coach who he thinks is the best team he ever faced.

  10. Also there is a difference in talent and team. No argument on who had the most talent. Canes hands down.

  11. 1990 Jackets weren't even the best team in 1990. Didn't they beat Nebraska that year in the bowl game? Were they even in the top 10? Go Buffs!!!

  12. I was going to stay out of this because I can not be bias. Do we not remember what Alabama just got thru doing? 14-0(1 of 4 in NCAA history), Heisman winner, SEC championships,oh yeah a National Champ. Also Bama is the only team with 6 first team ALL-Americans.
There has never been a team in college football history that accomplished more than the 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide.

  13. Oh yeah and they were just three years removed from probation.

  14. last year bama beat tennessee by 2 and auburn by 5. ut should have won and auburn was winning in the 4th Qt. both teams unranked at the time. and then in the national championship they were up by 3 w/ the final minutes against a team with out their starting qb (which the team was built around). dont take this the wrong way, i am not taking anything from what bama did last year. it was amazing. really was. but will that be a team that will be remembered as one of the most dominate teams in college football history by anyone not from the state of alabama? i dont think so.

  15. 2009 Alabama as the best of all time? Say that again, I need another good laugh. Come on man, they were impressive, but they were no where near the best of all time. Fact of the matter is, they probably lose the national championship game if Mccoy does not get hurt. (Sorry, I know you don't want to hear that, but it is my opinion). A second string freshman QB had them in position late in the game to win, so I'd have to say McCoy would have probably won the game. Bama has to block a field goal as time expires to beat Tennessee and you really think they are the best of all time? Come on man, take off the Crimson colored glasses.

  16. HAT-ER! HAT-ER! HAT-ER! HAT-ER!

Maybe one day Joe you and John can have the same feeling us Alabama fans have. One things for sure they were the best in 2009.......RTR

  17. come on dude, i didnt want that to be taken as a hater. i agree with you that bama was great last year. great. no doubt. but i dont think they were team that can even be talked about as one of the greatest. hell, i dont even think they were the best bama team in recent history. 92 was prolly even better than last years team.

  18. i do think that john was hatin though

  19. I agree there Jody, at least they were the best with a hurt Colt. lol j/k with ya. Bama was good and I give props and I agree I hope Joe and I will be able to celebrate what Bama did this year, that would be awesome. Don't mean to take anything away from what you guys did, but I really don't think they are even remotely in the discussion of best team ever.

  20. When people who are lot older that us and know a lot more about college football than us talk about the greatest teams of all time there are 3 tems these 2 and 2004 USC. I give USC a disadvantage because there was an undefeated SEC team that they didn't play so that hurts them a little. It really comes to Miami and Nebraska end of story. By the way anyway who wants to call homer on this one I do not belive the 2004 AU team even belongs in this conversation and even they did they obviously have the same problem that 2004 USC has.

  21. Joe beat me to the comment. I am a homer when it comes to the Tide but I think the 92 championship was more dominant than last years team. The defense was anchored by Curry & Copeland and you had Teague and Langham in the defensive backfield. Both teams were impressive but I don't think either one will ever be talked about as the greatest ever.
