I read an article in the chattanooga times free press this morning about qb's in the SEC... you can read it HERE i got the link from senator blutarsky's blog GET THE PICTURE one of my favorite blogs on the web, other than southern fried shit. alright, so now that i have given credit to where i got the inspiration and most of the data for this article(since im a journalist now i have to respect my peers and give them credit)lets get on to the story..
Here is how i see the SEC lining up in the QB position...
#1 Arkansas - Mallet is obviously the most talented QB in the SEC. i dont think i should get any arguments here
#2 Alabama - really its a no brainer at #2. i mean the guy has a NC ring on his hand and in my mind, should have gotten the MVP of the SEC championship game.
Here is where it starts to get interesting...
#3 Florida - How can i put a 1st year starter over some returning starters?
#4 USC - I think Garcia will get a lot better this year. he is smart and has a great head coach that i think has groomed him and he has potential to have a break out year... or he may look like he did against uconn
#5 LSU - Jesus! how in the hell do i have Jordan Jefferson at #5???
#6 Auburn - I'm going out a limb here and picking Cam Newton (or lab top)
#7 Kentucky - Hartline is back and is a pretty consistest QB but nothing special
#8 Georgia - not because im a homer.. and really not because i think the QB battle is better than the ones under here.. really because i think GA's offensive line is better than the remaining teams that dont know who their QB will be. thats fair. isnt it?
#9 Mississippi State - Chris Relf looked good against Ol Miss last year and with Dan Mullin.. im almost tempted in moving Miss ST up a couple of notches.
#10 Vandy - Jordan Rodgers is Arron Rodgers' brother. i didnt know this. but now that i do i cant put them at the bottom
#11 Ol Miss - Nathan Stanley and Raymon cotton have never came out of my mouth before and i know nothing about them. i do know that jevan sneed was a very talented QB and Nutt helped him look like shit so imagine what they will do with a new guy
#12 Tennessee - I'm sorry rusty. its not personal, UT has a 3 way battle for the QB spot and the program is on its 3rd Head Coach in 3 years.. that normally doesnt fair will for a rookie QB.

1. I look for Mallet and Petrino to win the SEC this year by outscoring everyone. He's by far the best QB in the country much less the lackluster QB play in the SEC he's compared to.
ReplyDelete2. Only other real QB's are going to be UGA's guy (only because I've always liked how Saint Richt can bring along a QB) and Chris Relf because Mullen was the brains behind UF's offense all those years(we both agree on that Joe). Maybe 'burns guy just because of Malzhan.
3. Everyone else........ Slap Dicks.
Arkansas will NOT win the SEC Reese. they could run through the ACC like jenna james runs through cock, but not the SEC
ReplyDeleteHow are QB's judged, I think it is on wins and Championships. With that being said there should be a swap between #1 and #2. Remember we are talking about now not there fututure in the NFL.
ReplyDeleteJody
i respect that jody. the reason behind me putting Mcelroy 2nd was that Arkansas' offense (from a passing stand point) was better than alabama's. i do understand it had to be because of bamas running attack being so good and that when mcelroy had to win a game he did a good job. but would agree that if mallet was on bama's team and mcelroy was on arkansas that bama would be better and arkansas would be worse?
ReplyDeleteon the last sentence put a "you" in front of agree. "would YOU agree that if ...."
ReplyDeleteNo I do not agree. I do not think that a player like Mallet suites the style that Bama plays. There is a reason he is at Arkansas and Mcelroy is at Bama.
ReplyDeleteIf you look back Saban has only had one NFL type QB and he looks like he has turned out to be a bust.
First off Joe get your porn names correct.
ReplyDeleteSecondly we aren't talking about the ACC. Aren't we all hear to jerk each other off to how great the SEC is?
Really, Ryan Mallet is the best QB in the nation, oh wait a minute he's in the SEC........let me go jerk off and I'll get back to you.
McElroy or whatever his name is is a slap dick.
And let me be the first to jump on the UT/Dooley bandwagon. I think he's a great hire. He's a fundamentals first type coach ala a mini Nick Saban. He'll do fine bringing along QB's.
ReplyDeleteHear=wtf?
ReplyDeleteI hate the argument when people say QB's are judged by championships. Who made this rule? Are there 10 other offensive players, 11 other defensive players, and 70 other teamates that won the championship? Or did the QB do it by himself? McElroy is good, no great. He will never play pro ball, which considering he is a Rhodes Scholar may be a wise choice. Fact is he is Top 4 I would say in the SEC. Mallet is obviously #1, and I'm not sure about the rest. Time will tell. Reese, I agree, a lot of slap dicks.
ReplyDeletethe qb is the leader of the team so when the team. i think qb's are judged by championships because why else are you playing the game. to me, the difference in a good qb and a great qb is the amount of championships they have. thats why to me dan marino is a really really good qb but not in my top 5. but is he better than trent dillfer? of course and trent has a ring and dan dont but over all i think head coaches and qb's can be judged by rings more than any other position... and when did you and reese agree on something sports related?
ReplyDeleteReese I care as much about an ACC fans opinion as you cared about NO DIVING signs the night before Joe's wedding. The only reason you think Ryan Mallet is the best (which he is) is because ESPN told you. The rest of the QB's in the SEC are not slap dick's. I understand it is hard for you recognize the talent of a passing QB as your QB only completes about 3 a game. To me a Slap Dick QB is one that can't run a 2 minute drill or win a bowl game.
ReplyDeletewell put brad
ReplyDeleteBoys, I'm good with the eyeball test on QB's and McElroy sux, Mallet is good, and Josh Nesbitt is a pulpwooder from Greene County and a square peg in a round hole. You know what sux is my qb from middle GA will have more TD's than Bama's qb and my running back aka Anthony Allen will have more yards and td's on less carries than the heisman trophy winner. Noone said anything about how good the ACC is. I bet you there is better QB play in the ACC than the SEC though. I'm out for a bit and then I'll be back to attack.
