Getting excited

I can't speak for anyone else but I am a die hard Braves fan and as much as I love march maddness the best thing about it is it enterains you until baseball season starts. As for the Braves, I have questioned a few of the moves we made this year, but far be it from me to question John Shurholtz and Frank Wren. After winning 14 division titles in a row, in 3 short years (as hard as it was to watch) they have retooled the team with youth and talent at almost every position. We have come a little closer the last 3 years with our young guys to competeing to win the division again. I think this year we make a legit run at it. That being said the Mets and Marlins both got a lot better and everyone knows how good the Phillies are. I am looking forward to seeing the number 1 overall prospect in MLB Jason Heyward split some time in left, along with the first full season of Tommy Hanson, I think these guys are the future of our orginization and they are poised to help us make another long run starting within the next few years. Can't wait for opening day. Go Bravos!

  1. I am excited also brad. the bad thing with me is that when i got married and then had kids, the amount of sports i watch had to be cut down. now i have to balance my time with outdoor activities, wii, and watching sports and so i had to bascially choose a couple of sports. for example, if georgia has a football game then i am not expected to participate in family activities. also it is ok for me to drink whiskey when the dawgs play as well. the reason im saying this is that i choose to give up baseball (to a certain degree). i dont watch as many games as i once did. and i think the main reason is the amount of games. 15 years ago i knew everything about the braves. i would continue to watch the game during a blow out just hear Pete, Don, Joe, and Skip (or which ever 2 were on TV) But know... i dont know, i will catch a game here or there but i dont have the same passion. so here is what i think i am going to do. i am going to take the family to a Braves game. I am going to urge traci to have a crush on one of the players. (that always helps) so this is the year that i am going to get back in to the swing of things. i just have a bad feeling that the braves are going to come in 3rd... in the division.

  3. It is good to know that there are still some true Braves fans out there. 17 years ago there were around 10,000 or less fans at every game, then for 14 years everyone was doing the Tomahawk Chop. It kind of reminds me of all the Alabama fans that are out there now that were not there three years ago.

In saying all that I agree with you Brad and to add this is Cox's and possibly Chipper's last year and they want to end on a positive. As far as the talent you are right about the youth. I think they have a good mixture this year of youth and veterans. One player you failed to mention was Jordan Schafer, I think he has a good year this year, he showed some signs last year. Scoring runs is the key this year, I think the pitching is as good as anybody.
    Go Braves.

  4. "scoring runs is the key this year" well said jody. i would agree that scoring runs is a major key in winning ball games that keep score.

one other note is that cox also needs to get tossed from like 12 or so games this year to bring his total to over 162, making it a complete seasons worth of ejections.

  5. Joe you are a Jackass. You do not score runs in Football or Basketball and they keep score.
