Reese brought this guy up a few weeks back and the more you learn of him the more you like him.
Just a few years ago Tommy Gainey was wrapping insulation around water heaters and this weekend he was going toe to toe with some of the best golfers in the world. The South Carolina crowd greeted him with a standing ovation walking up #18 and Tommy gave them a around of applause right back just 1 putt from a share of the lead. The putt missed and Gainey, in Tiger like fashion, started to slam his hat on the green and then stopped himself… slowly removed his cap, and in non-tiger like fashion, bowed to the crowed.
Two gloves is a baller. A buddy of mine said TG rolled into Dublin CC to gamble with a few big shots down there and took their wallets from them. Basically bent them over on their home course.
ReplyDeleteI didn't happen to see Two Gloves react to the crowd on 18, but that is how you should treat the fans and the game. Golf needs more home grown/ Good Ole boys in it's field.
I remember this guy on one of the first Big Breaks. Seems like a solid dude and really appreciates the love & support of the crowd. All sports could use more guys like this.
