Since we've been on golf a little more now days, I'd like to keep it on there to keep educating Joseph a little more about the best game on earth.
Tiger has come out and said he sprained his MCL and strained his achilles again. He did all this on his second shot into 17 on Saturady's round at Augusta. My question to you guys is this: He needs 5 majors to get to 19 and pass The Golden Bear. Can he do it or is he basically done? I can see him winning one or two more but I can also see him going on a run and winning 6-7 more. What do you guys think?
Also, if you arent watching Morning Drive on the Golf Channel you need to.
I think he'll end up passing Jack. But my thinking is a little different, I think he'll either win 6 or more, or he won't win another one.
ReplyDeleteI think John's assessment is right on.. I can't think of another athlete that we would be saying either A) he is toast and will not do shit ever again or B) he will win 6 more majors and become the greatest ever... I'm getting tired of predicting to be honest. This injury happened on 17 on Saturday right?? and he shoots a 67 (i think) on Sunday? and we are asking ourselves is he done? Or what about the US Open that he won playing the last round basically on one knee?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a clue what is in store for Tiger but one thing that makes me lean towards the 'under' on the 6 more majors is the intimidation factor more than the health issues. These young guns that were 11,12, and 13 when Tiger killed the Masters in 97 grew up thinking they were the next Tiger. And I don't think they are as scared of him as the Fat Phil's are.
Good post Joe. To be honest, I hope he doesn't win another fucking tournament ever and turns to porn to make a buck.
ReplyDeleteTiger winning again will be great for the PGA and they need it. There are a lot of young guys that are right on the edge of becoming huge stars, but none of them seem to want to step up and take center stage. When I think back on Tigers career, that is what stands out the most. He not only wanted to win, he willed himself to win. You never saw him choke or blow a lead in his glory days. Nerves of steel.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joe that predicting anything Tiger has become tiresome. The dude is so mentally fucked right now it isn't funny. There isn't one of us on this blog that can fathom what he has gone through. I am being dead serious when I say that Tiger Woods was the most loved, adored, famous athlete of all time. Bigger than Jordan. His fall from grace will go down as the most epic fall of all times.
