With Steve Garcia back I think the Gamecocks are going to be better with another year under his built. Losing Eric Norwood is going to hurt a team that heavily relied on their D last year. So here is how there season will go.
W - Southern Miss
L – Georgia (Homer Alert) – I think I am going to get some arguments here
W – Furman
L – @ Auburn – The game will be in Auburn and the Tigers will be coming off a Big Win vs. Clemson
L – Alabama – Upset Alert! Bama will coming off Huge wins vs. Arkansas and Florida the week before and this could be a perfect let down game for the Tide. I’m picking Bama but could see this game being Bama’s unexpected loss that we all know will happen this year
W – @ Kentucky – UK will be down this year, they will still give people fits but I ‘m not expecting much from them
W – @ Vandy – Vandy is in big trouble
W – Tennessee – The Ol’ Ball Coach seems to have UT’s number
L – Arkansas – I think Mallet and Petrino will be hitting a good stride late in the season
L – @ Florida – Ol Ball Coach did really good in the Swamp, when he had a F on his visor.
W – Troy – As a season ticket holder to Troy, I would love to see them win this game but it aint gonna happen. but it would make for a good road trip. GO TROJANS!!
W – @ Clemson – Coin flip

Ugay= They should be pretty evenly matched this year, but give the nod to the home team. W

@ Auburn= 'Burn is going to be good on O but will they be able to stop anyone? Is Ted Roof still there? If he is they may be like my Jackets back when Joe Ham was running the show. Ted Roof was the DC back then and they had to win a lot of shootouts. L
Bama= Saban teams are too solid and fundamentally sound. Bama is just a better team but The Ole Ball Coach will keep it close. L

UT= W, but is a close one. UT will be better than most think. DD is a mini-me Saban.
Arkansas= Win in a shootout. Teams score near 80 combined pts.

Clemson= W. They should be better with Clemson having to play a Frosh.
9-3 and go to the Peach Bowl.

ReplyDeleteIf you are a Gamecock fan, this is a make it or break it year. UGA is breaking in a Freshman QB, Florida lost everyone from last year's team, and Tennessee is in the first year of a new coach. If they don't do it this year, then when? Well here is how I see it breaking down...

Southern Miss - Win - They'll win easily on this Thursday night special and have 9 days to prepare for the Dawgs, as usual.
UGA - Loss - This should be a good game, but I'm gonna go with Georgia. A lot will depend on how well UGA picks up Grantham's defensive scheme, which I think its gonna be good. Georgia's offense will be vastly improved from a year ago and Georgia should win a closely fought battle.
Furman- Win, nothing to say here
@ Auburn - Loss - This one is gonna be good, another close game. I'm 50/50 on this game but I'm gonna give it to Auburn since its on the Plains.
Alabama -Loss - I think this will also be a good game with Alabama winning a close one. I wouldn't be shocked if the Gamecocks won this game however.
@ Kentucky - Win - They are better at almost every position and should win this game.
@ Vandy - Win - Vandy is the worst team in the league and have a new coach coming in, should be an easy win.
Tennessee - Win - I think South Carolina wins this game by 10-14 points.
Arkansas - Win - This will be a close one I'll give to the home team.
@ Florida - Loss - Again, gotta go with the home team here but wouldn't be surprised if the cocks pull out a win here.
Troy - Win - Nothing to say here
@ Clemson - Win - Should win the rivalry game this year.
Garcia will not make it through the season, Spurrier does not favor him. Joe I know you want someone to beat Alabama so bad. Every team you blog on is going to upset Alabama.

ReplyDeleteSo I think that we all are seeing a team that is going to be the typical 8-4 ish USC. That could be good enough to beat Bama and/or Florida and also bad enough to cough up games to Kentucky and/or Clemson

ReplyDeleteJoe you know I hate preseaon picks and rankings and all that stuff that is why I made a vague prediction. It is stupid of me to think that I can break down a schedule game by game and act like there is a logical reason one team will be better by week 8 with injuries and momentum and all that stuff. Just think if it were that easy to pick teams in the off season UGAy would be working on their 13th straight National Championship.
