Tony Barbee

Barbee is Auburn’s new basketball coach.  He was a GA under Calipari at UMASS and then Caps went and tried the pros out.  When Caps got the job at Memphis he hired Barbee as an asst. and he stayed with him for 6 years.  Barbee was with Caps when they landed Marcus Camby who ended up being the reason for Caps first run in with the NCAA.  Caps next run in was with Dereck Rose and Barbee was also with Caps during this.  If something smells like shit, and taste like shit, then its probably shit.  Culpepper said that he didn’t think UTEP would hire someone that would be a risky hire and that argument just went to crap when they hired Tim Floyd who is the guy that with OJ Mayo is getting USC in trouble.  One of Barbee’s Utep players is turning pro this year, early, and this is what he said.. “I never thought that I would be in college. Especially being in college this long.”  Perfect example of the type of players that Auburn can expect to get.

I take a lot of heat from Bamars about Auburn being my second team and probably rightfully so.  I was really hoping that Auburn would get the right guy here but I don’t think that Jay Jacobs did his job.  Auburn is a football school just like USC.  And I think its kind of funny that Tim Floyd did follow in Barbee’s steps taking the UTEP job because I have a feeling that Barbee is going to follow in Floyds steps by getting Auburn on probation.

The Real March Madness

Ok guys the official "March Madness" has begun (2010 chick braket). Go to joxfm.com (or click HERE and you will go to it)to play a long, every vote counts. Also I would like to hear who everyone thinks will take home this years Championship. Happy Voting.

Wednesday’s quick bits

Dont have much time today but here is a couple of quick things that are on my mind…

If the basketball Tourney can expand to 96 teams when absolutely no one is in the world is complaining about the format now, then what makes you think that college football would stay at 8 teams for long.  Anytime you say I want a college football playoff, i want you to say that you want a 32 team playoff, cause thats where it will end up.  And if you can say that, then we just aint on the same page.  (kinda like - I’m smart and your a retard)

mindy_mccreadyVivid Entertainment is producing a video with Mindy McCready in a sex tape.  If you dont remember, this is the chick that Roger Clemons was banging and according to Vivid, Mindy will be talking about other celebrities she has banged.  What a classy lady.  I said she was a slut when i first heard her.  ( And check out her bulge)

How in the hell did Kate not get knocked off Dancing with the Stars last night?  DAMN IT!!!  Pam Anderson is in the bottom two??? I will be very upset if i have to watch that box of a body Kate instead of my old high school sock girlfriend Pam Anderson.

Lee was the best on American Idol last night by far.  I still like my girl Crystal to win but she needs to go back to the guitar and hippie look.   she can not pull off the dress and high heels.  she looked like a Christian mission model.  I also thought that Casey did pretty good last night.

GOD i cant wait for some sports.  These are becoming the gayest posts and The blog is going to hell in a hand basket.  Baseball season starts Sunday and I pumped – I plan on being you source for Braves news.

More Tuesday stuff

Check Pete Rose out.  Guy is pushing 70 and is hooking up with Kiana Kim (who would have guessed her last name was kim?)  Anyway, she is gong to be in April’s Playboy.  I’d have to say that Pete has done pretty good for himself.  And Kiana Rose just sounds like a better name.

Kiana-Kim-1

Tuesdays notes

Kate (from jon and kate plus 8 minus jon) was on dancing with the stars last night and holy shit i dont think she could have done any worse.  It was really bad.  I had fallen asleep watching Fox news telling me that we will be a communist country if we dont vote republicans in when traci came in and showed me her dance (thank god for dvr – yes we dvr dancing with the stars) and i started giggling but then it got awkward.  during the crowd shots you could see on people’s faces the look of pain.  When Bruno spoke about the song (it was the elton john song that bruno made his debut as a fag dancer) i think he took it personal.  I have to say that i was happy that Kate made a complete ass out of herself.  I hate her.  I hate the way she used her 8 half china kids to make millions and drove her husband away then made millions on the fact that she had been cheated on.  Maybe if she hadn’t been such a bitch jon wouldn't have gone banging that college girl.

Ricky Martin is a petter puffer.  He is out of the closet and saying “HE bangs, He bangs!”  (thats wasnt even close to funny, i’m sorry)  Ricky is out of the closet and gay.  He says on his blog that he is a “fortunate homosexual man.”   uhhhh, ok man.  Fortunate?  dude, we knew you were gay back in the day and now you are irrelevant so we don't care.  so go smoke on the pole.

Stay tuned because I got some other stuff i need to talk about

Autism and Basketball

Update on the story of the kid that had the perfect bracket.  It was true.  It was perfect.  The Butler Bulldogs was his first loss and he also had Purdue winning.  So his bracket is still great, and he still has autism, but he does not have a perfect bracket – anymore.  CBS.sports is where he filled his bracket out, and they allow you to change your bracket once the tourney starts (which is bullshit), but his family insists that he didn’t.  I watched an interview with the kid and he said, “I like to watch basketball.”  So it appears to me that the kid is telling the truth.  Hermann also said. "I'm good at math. I'm kind of good at math and at stats I see on TV during the game.”  Well which is it Alex, are you good at math or kind of good at math?

But I have to say, this kid aint got shit on J-Mac.  You may remember him as, “Hotter than a pisthal” – Roll the tape.

Take that bracket boy.

Jessie James

Just in case you hadn’t heard, Jesse James had a affair with a lady named Michelle “Bombshell.”     So I thought I would inform you guys of who it is that Ol’ Jessie James has been hooking up with.  She classifies herself as a “evil cunt” and I think that pretty much sums it up.  Any woman that calls herself that I’m really not sure if we need to discuss her political affiliation.  I do know that she wants to legalize marijuana, and probably several other things.  She has a paid website and it only became a paid website very recently, like this past Tuesday.  So obviously she is going to try and make a little bit of money on this deal.  I’m sorry to say, but I did not join this website, even though it was only $9.95 -but it did have some good “teasers” to try and get you to join.  Other than what she calls herself, EC, she also seems very angry in some of her quotes.  I’m really not sure how someone can go from Sandra Bullock to Bombshell, but a better question is why the hell would you want to?  I mean don’t get wrong here, the Bombshell is sexy as hell but Sandra Bullock just seems a little bit cleaner.  And maybe, just maybe, Sandra has had a few less sex partners than  her counter part.  I’m not suggesting that the bombshell is a slut, but I will go with my gut here and guess that she may have had just a few more partners.  So why did Jessie go with the freak? Or am I off base here?  Do you guys think I’m crazy for picking Sandra over the Bombshell?  Give me your thoughts?  17377_1327974033407_1052623296_995388_4465372_nsandra_bullock_0424581_1318015002512_1594864846_740144_7958434_nsandra_bullock_1025198_1417653403961_1311407303_1142486_4095505_n sandra-bullock007michelle-bombshell-model-500x435sandra bullock.jpg

You tell me this picture of Sandra in the chair is not the sexiest picture up here? And she is wearing blue jeans and a long sleeve shirt…  I mean really, I would rather look at this picture than the one with freak show topless.

Disclaimer:  I have no problem at all with women getting tattoos and I do think that the freak has nicer breast.

Everyone is chasing that “American Dream”

Although a sworn enemy of the four horseman one of my Idols growing up and one of if not the most entertaining men of all time. So everybody speak up, when you were growing up who’s side where you on The 4 Horsemen or the American Dream’s?

4 Horse Men

One of the the most knowledgeable people in world, in regards to the 4 Horse Men, is a fellow by the name of Michael Gunn.  I got the opportunity to meet Mr. Gunn once and was blown away by his knowledge of the Horse Men.  He could carry on a conversation between Flair and Rhodes portraying both better than Heath Ledger did the joker in Batman.  Mr. Gunn spoke of Flair and told stories in first person and I believe he could have been with Flair personally threw out the glory days of the Horse Men.  I am trying to track Mr. Gunn down and maybe, just maybe, he could bless us as a guest author on Southern Fried and share some of his in depth knowledge of what could be one of the powerful and influential group of men since the Beatles.

It is rumored that Mr. Gunn is the lone nephew of James J. “J.J.” Dillon, the former manager of the Horsemen and if you get the opportunity to speak with Mr. Gunn you can hear “J.J.” in his voice.

Reese is working on a piece right now in regards to the Horse Men and in Reese’s intelligent opinion, if Jesus, Karl Marx, Muhammad, and Buddha got in the ring with the Horsemen then the Horse Men would have won and changed religious views world wide.  I look forward to reading his piece.

Oh yea baby

New Look

I switched the look up a little bit.  If I got tried of seeing that picture of me, even though it was of the biggest red snapper any reader has ever seen, then I know you guys did.  Hope yall like the chose of the 4 Horsemen.  They could be the greatest group of men in the world.  Koala

The Cuse just went down to Butler and this tourney just keeps on getting crazy.  I cant remember right off hand but I don’t think that I have ever had a worse bracket.  Spoke with a friend tonight and he said that some kid still has a perfect bracket going into tonight’s games.  I’m not sure if I believe it but I’m looking into it.  What made the story  even better is the kid is autistic.  Said he could do a rubics cube in like 7 turns.  I dont know, seems far fetched but the kid has Purdue winning it all.  Maybe I will find this story and it will have a picture of him.

Got a new laptop and it has a cool “blogger tool” where it makes it really easy to do post.  So look forward to seeing more and more post.  The kola bear was one of the pictures that was already on the computer and I wanted to try out the picture upload part so I picked it…  Cute little booger, dont you think?

Richt visits V Tech

Coach Richt visited Virgina's strength staff last thursday and friday to get ideas for improvement. This is confirmation that Richt's offer to Bud Foster was a way to get the guy a raise. Are you going to tell me that after a coach tried to steal a long time assistant of a program then 3 months later that same program would welcome that staff to their facilities and give them ways to improve? I dont have a problem with Richt getting him a raise, it just kinda pissed me off when the media was making it out that the Dawgs kept getting turned down time and time again. i believe that Kirby was the only person that turned us down and i do believe that it was a tough decision for him and i dont blame him for making the decision that he did.

Hump Day

Just Great! Now W Va point guard's is out for the tourney... Which is perfect for me since i got them in my final four. maybe this year i could get all me F4 teams knocked out. That would be fun...

Joe Biden thought that the Health Care bill was a "big fucking deal"

Looks like St Johns is a more appealing job than Ga Tech... That has to hurt.

Idol sucked balls last night. Their is only one person on that show and thats my girls Crystal. She rocked it out to "me and bobby mcgee"

"US and Canadian consumer watchdogs announced the recall along with Infantino of two infant carriers, the SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo." They also said that the slings were deadly. I dont like anything that a parent needs to carry a baby that has to look cool. your a parent now, whether you like it or not, you are no longer cool so stop with it. carry your baby, stroll your baby, or lay the baby down and let the little bastard cry...

i'll try and hook up some more stuff later.

Brackets Busted

I am going to vent. I am going to rationalize why my bracket is busted. I want to warn you that if your bracket is still looking good then you may want to stop reading right now. This is bullshit! I guarantee that every jack ass that is bragging this morning about how good his bracket is, then he did watch a entire basketball game this year and needs to be punched in the face. This year’s bracket is luck, nothing else.

Ok, Now that I’m off my soap box, what a hell of a weekend of basketball. This is why we love March Madness. Watching teams that you have never heard of, never seen, never even saw a high light reel on sports center – take down some of the best teams in the nation.

East
I said before the Tourney started that Kentucky would be the first 1 seed to go down. I gave the reasons why and now I’m starting to think that this team just might be dumb enough to win it all this year. They don’t care. They are just going out and straight up ballin out. Cornell’s white boys will have their hands full. The good thing for them is they probably want be able to understand what Cousins and Wall are saying to them. Washington has the talent, they were pre-season in the Top 25 for a reason but they will be facing a stingy W Va team so in the East its looking like a 1,2 elite 8 match up.

South
I still like the Dukies chance to make it but they have a tough Purdue team. This game wouldn’t surprise me either way but you have to lean towards Duke. Baylor and St Marys I have Baylor in my bracket so St Marys is Cod Lock. St Marys is the double digit seed that I think could make it to the next round.

West
I’m starting to, maybe, believe in Kansas State some but Xavier aint no joke. Pitt played a hell of game last night and Xavier just wouldn’t lose. They are not the kind of team you want to play so I’m really looking forward to this game. The winner will face who ever comes out of the Butler/Cuse game and I believe whole heartedly that Butler is good enough to win. I have Cuse in my bracket so go w/ Butler.

MidWest
Is Tennessee good enough to beat Ohio State? If they are then they would have Mich St/N Iowa next to get to the Final 4. I did pick Mich St to go this far but I had them losing to Kansas. In the future I plan on picking Izzo to the final 4 no matter what.

Day 3

Favorite
St Mary’s vs Nova – Nova is sitting @ a 5 ½ pt favorite – St Mary’s showed that they can ball and Nova has not played good at all down the stretch. Going into overtime as a 2 seed in the first round with everyone watching is probably why this line isn’t a little higher. I think Nova covers

Favorite
Ohio Tennessee with UT -8 ½ - Ohio just won the National Title in their minds. They upset a George Town team that couldn’t hit a barn with a shot gun but lets not forget that Ohio was a 9 seed in their conference tourney and had to win it to get in… After UT got a scare from San Diego St I think the Vols pull away here.

Dog
Old Dominion and Baylor – Baylor is a 4 ½ pt favorite but I think ODU is experienced enough and good enough to play with them. I have a lot of respect for Baylor and the Big 12 but think ODU takes them down to the wire and covers the number

Dog
Wake Forest Kentucky – UK -9 playing a Wake team that is coming in from an ACC conference that didn’t get much respect this year but obviously the ACC is a little better than advertised. Wake keeps it close enough to cover the 9

Favorite
BYU Kansas St – Kansas st is a 4 ½ pt favorite and BYU has some kids that can ball. I don’t think that BYU has played a team that is as physical as Kansas ST and I think they get into foul trouble trying to match State and get into foul trouble. The Mormons are not near as deep as State and that’s why State covers the number

Dog
Northern Iowa vs Kansas with Kansas as a 11 ½ pt favorite. Kansas, in my mind, is the best team in this tourney. They are the deepest team in this tourney. They are the most experienced team in this tourney BUT this N Iowa team can shoot 3’s and they will not give up. I can easily see NI down by 20 with 3 minutes to go and come back and make this a single digit game. Get the points here.

Favorite
Murray State Butler – Toss up but im leaning towards Butler

Dog
Washington New Mexico – I like NM but Washington has a lot more talent than they have shown this year and they may just be peaking at the right time. I still think that New Mexico wins but when you have an 11 seed as a favorite over 3 seed then it screams Trap Game! So stay away.

Day 2

WOW!!! what a day of basketball yesterday.

A lot of close games today according to Vegas.. here are the ones that will end up being close and the ones that will not be

12:25
Xavier Minnesota - 6/11 seed where the 6 seed is a DOG!! For real people. Zavier, sorry, I mean Xavier is a lot better than a exhausted Golpher team that had to make a run in the Big 10 to get in the Tourney. Take Xavier here and win Big

12:30
Temple Cornell - A lot people are taking the 12 seed ivy league school here, don’t do it. Temple should have been a 4 seed (maybe a 3) and a ivy league school hasn’t won a Tourney game since the mid 90's. Lay the 4 and take the Chalk.

2:30
Siena Purdue - Purdue is a 4 seed that isn’t the same team that is getting a 4 seed. This is the game where the 13 seed should actually be the favorite. Take Siena and get the 4 points but you dont need them. If the money line is attractive enough then jump on it or you can take the points for insurance

2:35
Clemson Mizzo - 7/10 tight match up here. this is a flip a coin type game. Coach Oliver does not have a good tourney resume' and Mizzo is coming out of good Big 12 this year... Its up to you on this one. Is Clemson getting a 7 because of the ACC which is down? Or are they better. Vegas has Clemson at -1 1/2 and I got Mizzo in my bracket but i tell you, this is going to be a tight game

4:45
Texas A&M Utah St - another good 5/12 match up where the 12 is getting a little to much respect. A&M is really really good. They bash Utah St in this game and are only laying 3 1/2. COD LOCK!!

7:10
Gonzaga Florida State - 8/9 match ups are historically good games and this one will be also. I got FSU in my bracket but will not be surprised at who ever wins this game. Vegas has FSU -1 1/2

7:15
Oklahoma State Ga Tech - I think GT is one of the most talented teams in America this year but I have no faith in their coach. I watched several games this year where I thought that I could have done a better job coaching, yea really. Any way, OSU is a 1 1/2 pt favorite. I have OSU in my bracket, but again, I wouldn’t be surprised to see GT go on beat Ohio St or get killed against OSU. (If OSU wins this game then they will play OSU the next game. OSU vs. OSU)

9:45
California Louy - Cal is a 1 1/2 pt favorite and it all depends on which Louy team shows up. I got Louy in my bracket but wouldn’t bet on this game.

Proof

Here is PROOF that UGA fans are a bunch of Animals

Day 1

AT 12:25
Old Dominion will upset Notre Dame in the 11/6 seed match to get this Tourney off to a great start. ODU will send the Irish packing. The 11/6 will be the previous years 12/5 match up. I got half the 6 seeds going down in the first round and I have zero 5 seeds losing.

AT 2:50
Richmond will pull away late against St Marys in the 10/7 seed match up. This line is Richmond -2 ½ so Vegas thinks this game will be very close but I see Richmond puling away late. Take the favorite in this one and watch the 7 seed move on.

AT 4:45
BUTLER will have their hands full with UTEP in the 12/5 match up but as I said earlier, all 5 seeds will move on. So take Butler and lay the 2 ½ points.

AT 7:20
MARQUETTE is only a 1 ½ pt favorite over a Washington team that shouldn’t even be playing in this tourney. The A-10 is a better basketball conference than the Pac-10 this year and you get a Big East school, a good Big East School, playing a Washington team that might not have even been invited to the NIT and you get them at basically a pick em… take Marquette and take them big. THIS IS A COD LOCK!!!!

AT 9:45
My 2nd 11/6 upset. Tennessee vs. San Diego State – SDS is the worst free throw shooting team in the Nation and Bruce Pearl will take advantage of this but with Vegas only giving SDS 3 ½ obviously they see an upset potential here also.

American Idol

Idol is not that good this year. And I will admit it, I am a pretty big Idol fan. I know the names, I have my favorites, I enjoy Simon’s comments, but this years talent isn’t that good. First let me preface this with I have absolutely no musical abilities. I only go by what sounds good to me and these people don’t sound very good and since we are fixin to be over taken with basketball I thought I would take a little sports break and give you my American Idol break down.

After they narrowed it down to 12 I lost several people that I thought would make it to the top 12 but here are the remaining ones that I like…
1-Crystal Bowersox (white girl, dreadlocks, and nasty teeth) – this girl can really sing. She looks like someone you would see after a Georgia game playing on the street corner but if they spent like 15 – 20 grand a this girl they could make her look good enough. If she wins I will feel a lot better about Idol picking the best singer based on vocals not looks.
2-Lee Dewyze (Paint Store guy) – he doesn’t blow you away but he is someone that seems like would have a good album not just a good single. Reminds of me of kinda counting crows. You remember that yellow cd of theirs with “round here”? every song on that album was good. I think lee is kind of the same way. Maybe not someone that will have a HUGE hit but someone that will put out a decent album.
3-Didi Benami (Hot chick) this chick has the looks and the voice. She is sexy as hell and has one of those sweet little innocent voices that you don’t really like listening to for an extended period of time but the whole time you are listening you can hear her saying things to you and all of a sudden you have no clue what she is singing because all your hearing are the things your making up of what she is saying to you…. I think she has a good shot.
4-Andrew Garcia (Mexican with tattoo on his neck) –This Mexican has a good voice but he just hasn’t blown me away. His looks don’t go with his voice. I think he tries to hard by singing stupid shit and trying to make it his own. I see this guy as a real good open mic night host
5-Casey James (goober that thinks he is cool) another decent voice. DECENT !! that what this show is full of. He is kind of cute (I hope I didn’t just say that out loud) when his hair is down but American Idol should be about who sings the best not who is the cutest. That’s why Casey sits in 5th place in my book. He needs to show out or go home.

Anyone other than these 5 people make it to the final 3 then i will never watch Idol again.

Ok, I just read this article after I was finished and had no clue how gay I am. I am going to post it anyway because I am secure enough in my sexuality to be able to write something like this… GFY!

Funny thought. I was thinking about the time that Starrett and I were talking about his personal issues at Elliot’s house after everyone had gone to bed and out of no where someone (initials MK) gets up and goes over to the corner and starts pissing. Starrett and I ask him what he is doing and then he stops, goes into the bathroom and pisses all over the shower curtain – comes out and goes right back to bed. Good times. Good times.

Joe your picks suck

Brackets

My brackets are filled out… and then filled out again… then again.. and yet again. This year I did keep my first bracket to see if next year I should just go with my gut. I do have to admit that I did go with a lot of chalk this year. Didnt really go out on a limb like I have seen others do. Like picking Louy to beat Duke in the 2nd round, come on. 8 seeds are 9 and 37 vs. 1 seeds and 9 seeds are an even worse going 3 and 51 vs 1 seeds. These are the numbers I looked at when filling out my bracket. When a seed has a 88% winning percentage against anther seed then I went with the 88… I also did something totally different this year by picking my elite 8 first. Before the bracket came out I picked out my favorite 10 teams and put them in order. I found these teams in order and put them in their rightful spot in their region. New Mexico vs. W. Va was the only two teams in my top 8 that have a game against each other before the Elite 8 and I went with W. Va. UK will not make the Final 4. So if you want to get crazy with a 1 seed let Kentucky be the one that you get crazy with. UK will start their run (or lack there of) with East Tenn St… ok then after that they will play Texas who was ranked number 1 in the nation at one time this year. Then after that they will play Wisconsin (or Temple but prolly Wisc) who has beaten a lot of good teams this year. Go look at Wisconsin’s quality wins and compare to any other 4 seed and tell me that they are not the best 4 seed out there. After that then they will play W. Va who most think should have gotten a 1 seed themselves.. all this just to get to the final four to play 2 more games against the best in the Nation. Not gonna happen. Especially not with ture freshman like Cousins. Do you really think Cousins gives 2 shits what Caps says.. This kid has 5 or 6 games left before he “formally” signs with an agent and makes millions. Sorry, there is a reason Caps doesn’t win it all, because he is always playing with True Freshman.

So my Final Four, like I said, is mostly chalk and I’m not concerned by this. Most people think that their brackets are not cool unless you try and pick that George Mason or your final 4 is full of 3 and 4 seeds when in reality it is made up of mostly 1 and 2 seeds. After you finish your bracket I want you to think about it… I want you to look at your elite 8 and think to yourself, are these the best 8 teams in the country? Really. Cause isn’t that what you play off dick heads like about a playoff? It finds out who the best really are. So why do you pick a team that you know is not one of the best, they hadn’t beaten one of the best, and they cant be one of the best, in your Elite 8? Don’t pick the team that needs to get lucky to win.. Pick the team that would need to play flat as hell to lose.

Random Thoughts

Tiger to play in masters --- "The Masters is where I won my first major, and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta," Woods said in a statement. I think this is a good move for Tiger and I think that he will do very well here. I’m don’t think he wins it but I think he will compete and be with in a 5 or 6 strokes on Sunday. Wow have times changed. 15 years ago how many members of Augusta National would be looking forward to helping protect a black guy?

Did yall hear about Jon Edwards girlfriend in GQ?? She didn’t have any pants on and said she thought they were going to be “head shots.” “ok, mrs Rielle, we are going to be doing some head shots for the article. Will you please remove your pants, sit on the bed, and spread your legs.” What a dumb bitch.

A 38-year-old father of two was jogging and listening to his iPod when he was hit from behind and killed by a small plane making an emergency landing on the beach, officials said Tuesday. ---
This guy must have been jamming out on his iPod if he didn’t hear an airplane coming behind him. What the article does not say is that their was a guy still in bed eating biscuits and gravy hung over from the night before that didn’t get hit by an airplane.
Another reason not to jog.

LT made the right choice by going to the JETS. He still has a little left in his tank and with a great offensive line I think he will make a difference.

Auburn is looking for a new basketball coach… and nobody really cares. The Tigers will open up a new arena next year and the bad thing is they will no longer have something to blame not being able to get talent on. I have read that the Utep coach’s name is being mentioned. While he looks good on the outside I would be concerned because he is a Calipari guy. This means the guy is probably dirty as hell and will get the program on probation. Im not sure that Auburn people have much faith in Jay Jacobs any way and I m not sure even with a new arena and a new coach how much Auburn people will even care… Maybe let Pat Dye coach the team for a year and that would generate some excitement. The race card has been brought up with this hire already. It seems like if AU don’t hire a brother then they will be bashed in the media with Barkley leading the charge.

Ben Roethlisberger

Are you kidding me? Really? Is Big Ben really this stupid or is he being taken? First of all even if he is being taken then why are you in this situation? Its almost like Ben doesn’t pay attention to what happens to other people or even himself. In May of 2005 TE Winslow was injured in a motorcycle accident not wearing a helmet. June of 2006 Big Ben was injured in a motorcycle accident not wearing a helmet. Last July Big Ben had a woman say that he sexually assaulted her at Lake Tahoe… Now he is in a night club at Georgia College with a bunch of 20 year old girls??? Lets say the charges are false. Why the hell is he there? He is a Super Bowl winning QB for the most loyal team in the NFL. He is in a city that worships their pro players, all of them. Did he not see what Tiger is going through? Or how about what he just went through? Why on earth would you be at a nightclub in Milledgeville Ga.?

As loyal as the Pittsburgh Steelers are, they are one of the few teams that don’t draft or sign players that they are worried about not representing them the way they want to be. I commend Mr. Rooney for some of the decisions he makes in who he signs and who he doesn’t. When was the last time you heard about a player from the Steelers in the news? I have a feeling that the Steelers are not going to take this lightly, even with a not guilty verdict, and I don’t blame them. As soon as you start questioning or second guessing whatever decision they make I want you to think about who has the most Super Bowl rings of any team. I want you to think about how many coaches they have had in the last 40 years. I remember in high school when the Braves would make a trade and I would be like, “what in the hell are they thinking?” Then that same year the guy we traded away would have a bad year and the guy we got would have a great year. I soon realized that Mr. Schuerholz (spelling) knows a lot more than I do. And Mr. Rooney does also.

If Ben gets traded it want be the end of him, and it damn sure want be the end of the Steelers, but if it does happen - don’t be surprised, and definitely don’t question it.

Can you read his lips???

If you look at the pic closely you can tell what Good Ole PJ is saying. If you can't tell I'll read them for you. He's saying "Hey Nick Saban...Suck my balls. Mark Richt can suck my balls too. Wait a minute while I get Gene Chism off my choad. I swear he's like a fat dog tick."

SEC Basketball Tourney

I tried to do a bracket on here with all my picks for the SEC tourney but when i posted it - it screwed up. so here are my picks..

USC over Bama / UT over LSU / Auburn upsets Florida / Georgia upsets Arky // 2nd round UK beats USC / Ol miss over UT / Miss St over Auburn / Vandy over Ga // 3rd round Ol miss upsets UK / Vandy upsets Miss st / finals Vandy wins SEC

Im picking Vandy to win the SEC, not because i think they are the best team, but because i think pearl and caps are approaching the conf. tourney a little different. They both want to win 1 game and then be resting on sunday watching the selection show. I do think the Dawgs get a win vs. ARky and Auburn will upset Fla.

SEC coach of the year

The SEC coaches let their voices be heard today when after the votes for SEC coach of the year were tallied. Coach Calipari led UK to a 29-2 (14-2) record and probably a number 1 seed in the big dance in just his first year as head coach for the big blue. Last year this team went 19-12 (8-8) and didn’t even get an invite to the tourney and yet coach Caps didn’t get the COY award. I think this was a statement on the part of the SEC coaches letting coach Caps know that he is not welcome in the SEC.

Was this jealously? Or Was this more about the coaches making a statement that they believe that he is dirty. You can not deny that he was the most deserving of the award. You just cant. His record speaks for it self but its pretty clear that the other coaches in the league are saying something here.

If you would have had a vote, who would you have voted for and why?

Hunting

I havent ever been a "serious" hunter. The older i get the more i do appreciate being in the outdoors, and being out of the house. Here are things that have to be acceptable for me to go hunting... 1) Beer. If you have a problem with me drinking a couple of beers in the deer stand (and it has to be a shooting house) then i will not go hunting with you. If i am going to be sitting up there watching nature then i want to drink a couple of cold beers while im up there. I'm not talking about getting shit faced, but if you are going hunting with me then dont be shocked when i pull a couple of cold beers out and shove them in my bag as we are leaving. 2) Morning. I'm not gonna be doing much morning hunting. this was always the problem i had hunting with frank. He enjoyed hunting at the butt crack of dawn more than he did the evenings. I enjoy laying in the bed when i dont have to go to work. my favorite thing to do is get up, eat breakfast, then go get back in the bed and watch espn. so even if i make plans to go, and i wake up at 4:30 when my alarm goes off, you have about 10:1 odds that i actually get up and go. 3) Time. I am not going to sit in the deer stand for 3 1/2 hours. i'm just not, sorry. i decide when i am going this way. Lets say it gets dark at 5:45. So at 5:30 its getting pretty tough to see. this, in my experience is when you see the most deer. so i will go about 4:30 so i can be in the stand by 4:45. this way i got 45 minutes and 2 beers. 4) Sport. i dont hunt for sport. i dont get a rush out of scouting out a area and finding the perfect place to put a stand. what i think is smart is to put some salt and corn out and make the deer come to you. if you shoot a big buck that you scouted out and i shoot a 110 lb doe eating out of bucket of corn, mine will taste just a good as yours.

NOW! on fishing. I have always loved fishing. With Granny and Grandpaw living on the lake - fishing was always accessible. Bass, Bream, Crappie, hell i used to love catching carp with loaf bread. Frank used to take me camping in the mountains and we would go trout fishing, loved it. Then i went salt water fishing and have been "hooked" ever since. but again, there are a couple of rules for fishing also. Beer, got to be having us a few cold ones if we are gonna be fishing. The morning rule gets exception with fishing. i will wake up early to go fishing as long as you understand that i may take a nap while fishing. Time, i will fish all day - as long as we are drinking beers and naps are available.

About 4 or 5 months ago i discovered hog hunting and i am hooked guys. I enjoy this more than anything i have ever hunted. We normally start around 8ish, so you dont have to wake up to early, and when we get there we hang out and drink some coffee and bullshit. then we let dogs out and the dogs go running through the woods trying to find a track. Mean while i beginning to eat the biscuits i bought at the store i picked up my coffee at. So we wait till the dogs figure out what they are going to do and then they "get on a track" and start raising all kind of hell. so at this point we go running into the woods with pit bulls and "catch" the hog. then stab it. then get a four wheeler and drag it out. put it on the tail gate and then do it again, but of course when it gets close to lunch we take a long lunch break. I am actually considering raising a couple of bay dogs myself. when the dogs dont get on a track then we ride around on dirt roads until we see some fresh signs. You dont have to be decked out in camo and it dont matter what you smell like.

As for this past weekend, we only got a little baby pig but still had fun.

So now you guys know what kind of hunting i do, and dont do, and what kind of fishing i love, and like.

Joe Hunting

I guess Joe has taken the weekend off to do what he calls hog hunting. I know Joe likes to think he is capable of doing a lot of things, and I am sure he is, but hunting is not one of them. I would love to hear some stories if some of you have ever had the pleasure of going hunting with Joe. I am going to leave this commit with a thought, the guy to the left was great with animals and we all know how that ended.

Greatest NFL team you've ever seen???

Since the NCAA question was such a hit I figured I'd ask what team you thought was the greatest NFL team you've ever seen? There have been a lot of good ones in my lifetime but I'd have to go with the '89 'niners led by Joe "Cool" Montana aka the greatest QB of all time.

New look for Joe

Best NCAA F Ball team you've ever seen???

I know football is done, but we are on the brink of Spring ball and I got to thinking......who is the best team I've ever seen play? I want to know who is the best team you've ever seen play and I'm not gonna let you say 1980 Dawgs, because most of you were still "shittin yella" when Hershel wore silver britches. Ya'll know I'm a Tech fan and I'm biased towards the 1990 Jackets, but 2 teams immediately stuck out in my head, the 1992 Alabama Crimson Tide coached by Gene Stallings (with all of Bill Curry's recruits) and the 1995 Nebraska "Big Red Machine" Corn Huskers. I have to say that Bama team was awesome on D and maybe the best I've ever seen, but that '95 Nebraska team beats anything I've seen to date. I really think those boys could line up and physically man handle the teams today. Whatchew say?????

Best Nascar driver EVER!?

Jimmie Johnson is the Tiger Woods of Nascar (with out the scandal) He will be, and is probably already, the greatest to ever drive a race car. This is his 10th year racing professionally. He has 4 championships in a row, twice he finished 2nd, twice he finished 5th, and then you have his rookie year. this year he is running 5th and has already won one of the first 3 races. Think about this for a second. Drew Brees was a rookie the same year Jimmie was. Imagine if Drew Brees had already played in 6 super bowls, winning 4 of them (in a row!) and making the playoffs 2 other years that he didnt play in the big one. That sounds ridiculous, but that is exactly what Johnson has done. Right now he is 5th in the point standings and is looking to possibly win his 5th in a row. I don't care about Dale Sr. I dont. I didnt mind when he got spun out and hit the wall. Jimmie Johnson has done what he has done with class. Mild mannered, no scandals, not even a bad rummer about this guy. So i will say it. Jimmie Johnson is the Best Nascar Driver EVER!!!

Brackets

With March Madness right around the corner I thought I would put together a little recent history of the final four so you know who to be paying attention to in the final weeks of the regular season. Over the last 5 years here is how the teams that made the final four ended up in the final AP poll…

Final AP ranking on Left and Bracket Seed on right
09
#2 UNC -1
#5 UCONN -1
#8 MICH ST -2
#11 NOVA -3

08
#4 Kansas -1
#2 Memphis -1
#1 UNC -1
#3 UCLA -1

07
#3 FLA -1
#1 Ohio st -1
#8 G Town -2
#7 UCLA -2

06
#7 UCLA -2
#11 Fla -3
#19 LSU -4
N/R G Mason -11

05
#2 UNC -1
#1 Illinois -1
#4 Louy -4
#15 Mich ST -5

As you can see, of the last 20 teams to make the Final Four that 11 of the 20 were ranked in the top 5 of the final AP poll. Of the 9 that were not in the top 5, 4 of them were in the top 10. so 15 out of 20 were in the top 10 of the final AP poll. So instead of looking for that 12 seed that will beat a 5 in the first round, spend you time on the top 10. Most bracket pools have points per round and the later the round the more the points. So lets concentrate on the teams that actually have a shot at making the final four. 50% of the time a top 5 AP team will be in the final four. And 75% of the time the team that makes the final 4 will have been in the top 10 of the final poll. (and twice the team was ranked 11th so you could say that 85% of the time a top 11 team will be in the final four)

So after you fill out your brackets check on how many of your final four teams finished in the top 5, and top 11.

Don’t be afraid to stay with the chalk most of the time. Don’t get caught up with trying to pick the upsets in the 1st and 2nd round. If you knew who the Cinderella story would be then it wouldn’t be a Cinderella.

March Maddness

Well March is upon us. I was just wondering which way everyone was leaning towards winning the National Championship? I think this year there is not one team that just stands out to me. I guess i will really have to start paying attention to what goes on the next week or so.

NFL Drafting

I saw where Tim Tebow set a record for QB's at the combine in the verticle jump.. We all agree that this guy, physically, is something special, but how will he fair in the league. Most draft gurus have him going in the 2nd or 3rd round. so this got me thinking where, or would i, draft tebow. I think Jacksonville is in a unique situation where they need ticket sales and he is the local favorite, but if you were St Louis and you need a QB what are you going to do? Would you give up a 3rd pick for Vick or use your 3rd pick to draft tebow. assuming this was the choice. OR do you stay the hell away from tebow and vick and go in a different direction. I think drafting QB's is like playing russian roulette. I want to draft big boys that can make it to the pro bowl with in 2 years, i just think my money is better spent. BUT if you were the ST louis Rams GM how do you approach this draft? and i really want to know where people stand on tebow and vick..

Could March Madness be better?

I think it can be done and easily. I must admit I did not think of this, this one comes from the thoughts of Skip Bayless which I have expanded upon. I think 64 is perfect they should drop the play in game but other than that I am ok with the current tournament format. Here is where my problem occurs. I am not a fan of the Mid-Major and lower teams having a conference tournament, I would even be ok the major conferences not having one either, but if a lesser team from one of those conferences wins and gets and automatic bid I can understand their argument. However if a team is in the Ohio Valley Conf., the Ohio Valley usually only sends one school the conference champ, occasionally they will have an at large bid which is fine we are not here to discuss at large bids. If Murray St. who is the best team in the conference at the moment at 26-3 and will win the regular season conference championship, should take out Morehead St. 19-9 in the first round and then get upset in the second round. Now if that were to happen Murray state having almost 30 wins would probably get an at large bid but because they got beat a team in a horrible conf. with just over 20 wins would aslo go on an automatic bid. Thus pushing a bubble team, which this year especially means UNC, UCONN, UCLA, Louisville, and GT would all get passed over Austin Peay 16-13 (and 3rd in the Ohio Valley) for having 2 good games in a row. I just used the Ohio Valley as example because most of you probably did not know that it existed but look it up this happens all the time, and it is even worse when the best team in the conference misses an at large bid, they then have one team representing their entire conference that is not even the best team in it. Leave the conf. tourney to the big boys, I would rather see the regular season winner of these conferences get an automatic bid for their entire body of work and make sure the best team goes to represent those conferences.

Jerseys

Does anyone remember when running backs in the NFL had more life? With that question who would pick up Tomlison or Westbrook? I think both could go to another team and make a great addition. In saying that it is hard to see the greats in another jersey (ie Emmit).

Getting excited

I can't speak for anyone else but I am a die hard Braves fan and as much as I love march maddness the best thing about it is it enterains you until baseball season starts. As for the Braves, I have questioned a few of the moves we made this year, but far be it from me to question John Shurholtz and Frank Wren. After winning 14 division titles in a row, in 3 short years (as hard as it was to watch) they have retooled the team with youth and talent at almost every position. We have come a little closer the last 3 years with our young guys to competeing to win the division again. I think this year we make a legit run at it. That being said the Mets and Marlins both got a lot better and everyone knows how good the Phillies are. I am looking forward to seeing the number 1 overall prospect in MLB Jason Heyward split some time in left, along with the first full season of Tommy Hanson, I think these guys are the future of our orginization and they are poised to help us make another long run starting within the next few years. Can't wait for opening day. Go Bravos!

Would you hire this guy?

Lets say you are the AD of Southern Fried University. You just lost your Head Coach to go to the NFL. (or you fired him) And you start the search. You are going to hire the NEXT great coach. You got a small list of candidates like Greg Schiano, Jim Harbaugh, Steve Sarkisian, and Dan Mullen... Then your assisant AD walks in and says this. (i will refer to you as "Dick") "Dick, listen to this. 90 - 27 overall record. 2 time SEC Champion. 4 time SEC East Champ. 2 time SEC coach of the year. 7-2 bowl record, and Dick, the guy has gone to a bowl game every year he has been a head coach." then you (dick) would reply, "theirs no way we could get a guy like that." "yea, the school he is at is starting to get unhappy with him because he lost 5 ball games last year." So Dick, what other information do you need about this Head Coach to know if he is somebody you would absolutely love to have representing your program.

Has he ever been on probation? nope, actually he is one of the most respected coaches in all of college football.

Any personal scandals? actually his wife is the water girl and the only time he makes the papers is when he is either speaking at a church, going on a mission trip, and when they adopted their second child from the urkaine and she has a rare disorder.

Can the guy recruit? His recruiting classes average in the top 5 year in and year out.

So Dick? Dont be a Dick. If your a Georgia fan stand behind Mark Richt. Back him up and show your support. Go into this year with moderate expectations because thats the biggest problem. Your expectations. You hadnt won a National Championship in close to 30 years so dont expect to compete for one every year. to quote Saban (i cant believe im doing that) "It's a process." before you want to go and start dog cussing richt look at UT and Auburn. The coaches they hired at the time they hired them had a combined Head Coaching record of 22-39... We are as stable of a program as you can get. Richt has coached 9 years at UGA and won the SEC title twice. thats 22% of the time. And this is his first time ever being a Head Coach. Enough with the bullshit! Mark Richt is one of the hottest young coaches in college football. 3 years ago we (Dawgs) were worried sick that Miami was going to steal him from us and now after 1 8-5 season your ready to send him packing? Nah, not me. Richt can go 7-5 next year and he still will have my support going into 2011.

(if Richt goes 2010 7-5, then 2011 6-6 - i want his ass Fired)

Ha ha ha awesome!

Curling

The Washington Post has a great article on curling today. You can read it HERE. But let me do you a favor and stop you. This article about curling will be far better of a read, But first let me quote this dip shit (a person that has been dipped in shit) a couple of times.

They're chanting and doing the wave inside the curling venue at the Vancouver Olympics, and the players are having to adjust – HOLLY SHIT!! Olympic athletes are having to adjust to the F’in Wave? The Wave?
Like an NFL quarterback preparing for a playoff game on the road – really? Your telling me a curler in a 5500 person arena, that does the wave, has anything in common at all with a QB in a road playoff game?
On Saturday night, the crowd broke into a spontaneous rendition of "O Canada" toward the end of Canada's men's match against Britain. Members of both teams agreed it was a great moment – Yea, I bet it is very similar to when Virginia Tech comes out to “Sandman” by Metalica and you have over 85 thousand people (some so crazy they will shoot a bunch of people during class) screaming and bouncing up and down. Can you imagine “setting up” to send the “rock” down to land in the “house” while 5,500 liberal tree hugging Canadians sing O’Canada?

I don’t know about you but I’m actually starting to like this curling stuff. Yesterday I was screaming YAR!! YAR!! As the Americans tried to hold on to the win. Tonight the Americans will take on Chinamen and I will be fist pumin in my living room when those slant eyed yellow commie bastards try to stand in the way of an American Curling GOLD. I don’t know if it will be seen on NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, or USA but you bet your sweet ass I will be watching and screaming YAR!! (if anybody can tell me what the hell yar means and/or why they scream it; it would be greatly appreciated)

Tiger

Tiger Woods is about to give his press conference and I am sick and tired of hearing everyone say who he “owes” an apology too. He don’t owe us shit. And every single hypocrite in the media that is bashing him over and over and over needs to take a real long look at themselves. As soon as Tim Tebow gets a piece of ass I suspect that we will have the same thing out of him. That’s what happens. These supper star athletes and celebrates grow up, normally, one of two ways. Either poor or sheltered. The poor ones do stupid shit like fight dogs, shoot themselves in the leg, beat their girl friend up, etc… the sheltered ones are a little different, of course. They, on the other hand, never were able to do “fun” stuff, like have a period of their life where they do drugs, sleep with several different women, get an STD, stay drunk for a month, etc… so when these guys get really on their own (and their really never own their own until their daddy dies – ie Michael Jordan) they go nuts, pun intended. Tiger was making over a 100 million dollars a year. That’s just shy of 2 million a week. Now I want you guys to think about this for a minute. Put yourself in Tigers shoes. You are a kid that grew up with a father that was about as demanding as you can imagine. You had zero personal life. Then you go off to Stanford and become friends with a bunch of rich douche bags but still all you are doing is playing golf. Every day – all day. And then you have sex for the first time, you lose your virginity at 19 (im assuming he lost his about 19). Over the next decade you become one of the most popular athletes in the world, not the south, not the nation, in the WORLD!! You have women throwing themselves on you. You can afford to put these women up anywhere you want. “I’m gonna be in England next week, want to join me? I’ll fly you out.” I mean really, think about this for a second. Think about a nerd, a black nerd, that plays golf – getting any white woman he wants. Tiger says he is “addicted to sex” hell Tiger, I would be too.. I just cant afford to be.

A perfect fit

Mount Rushmore of the SEC

What if they were carving out 4 faces in Stone Mountain to represent football in the South. (not just the SEC) Football in the South is religion and Atlanta thought that stone mountain was getting kind of boring and to beef up the attraction they decided to make a Mount Rushmore of Football in the South. So the director of operations of Stone Mountain called me and asked that Southern Fried Shit make the call on who gets to be put on it... So here is 3 out of 4. help me out with the 4th. and of course feel free to make a suggestions on any of my 3 that you disagree with.

Bear Bryant
Bobby Bowden
Eddie Robinson

UPDATE!! here are some ideas that i have gotten for the Mountain. click on the name and you will go to their wiki page

Johhn Vaught

Vince Dooley
Steve Spurrier

HOLD THE PRESS! CULPEPPER JUST BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION POP WARNER AND JOHN HEISMAN (AGAIN YOU CLICK THE NAME TO GO TO THEIR WIKI PAGES)

Culpepper also pointed out that i am an moron for not having them in the first place.

Texas to the Big 10?

Will Texas go to the Big 10? Would they? Your first impression is to say No, but, the talks will not die. And now the Pac 10 is pitching em also. If Texas does go to the BIg 10 then obviously this opens up a spot in the Big 12. Who do they go after? my first hunch would be TCU. Then let the Pac 10 go after 2 of the Boise st, Utah, or Byu. BUT!! what if the Big 12 got Arkansas? who would the SEC pick up? FSU and Georgia Tech would be my first 2 choices and i think GT would be my first. From a football stand point GT would not benefit. They would be playing much tougher competition BUT in basketball, where GT excels, they would have a huge up side. It would basically be uk instead of clemson, duke, unc, nc state, wake forest, etc... What will happen? Does Texas make the move? Which 2 out of the 3 (utah, boise, byu) would like to see in the Pac 10? would you rather GT or FSU in the SEC if Arkansas left?

Happy Wednesday

Quick Note

every year i scramble to get in a fantasy league. i jump on the first one available and then better and better ones come available. so i end up in 4 or 5 leagues and its not as much fun as being in 1 and investing all the time that you have on fantasy stuff to be able to spend it on that one. so here is what im putting out there and let me know if you guys are interested. stay in what ever league your in now, if your in a good one, AND/OR lets have 1 league that is taken very serious. we could use this blog as a way to talk smack. A 10 or 12 man league consisting of the people that post/read this blog ie. Me, Culpepper, Jody, Rusty, Reese, Starrett, Pulley, and Matt T. this would leave 4 "at large" spots for anyone that we suggest. Just throwing this out there. i know most of you are already in leagues and i was in some of the leagues that yall were in. You have to admit that not everybody took it serious. Let me know what yall are thinking...

Happy Tuesday

David Hale has a post on his blog (David Hale is a beat writer on the Bulldogs - he has a blog that is a real good read. he is very informed and is NOT a Ga fan so you get a non biased approach) - his last couple of post have been very very good. THIS ONE is about the how the conferences stack up against each other in several different aspects(recuriting, bowl games, players in NFL, just a whole bunch of shit) and it was shocking to me where the ACC ends up... I would love to here your thoughts on this... AND then check out THIS ONE where he really dives in to the difference between a 5 and 3 star guy. you will enjoy both of these write ups...

Jody posed the question about who will make the best QB out of this years draft? Here is what Kiper and McCshay have on their lists, let me know if yours is different.

Kiper's Board McCshay's Board
Bradford Bradford
Clausen Clausen
McCoy McCoy
LeFevour Pike
Tebow Tebow

Sam Bradford is 6-4 223. I did not know that. I thought he was shorter and smaller. At of all these QB's Bradford to me seems like he has the best arm. i also like the fact that he played at a big school. i understand that you got your joe flacos out there but they are few and far between. Let me be clear here. I DO NOT PICK A QB IN FIRST ROUND!!! There is 5 OT's randed in the top 32 and i would take the 5th one before i picked up a QB. so if im asked who i would prefer... its Bradford. if im a GM and drafting, then i probably pick up Tony Pike @ 23 years old and 6-6 and see if i can groom him into something. if i dont have a QB and i have to have a QB right now. then i trade for one. i would rather have a Pennington type QB than to start a rookie that is not going to play good that im paying more than anybody on the team.

State of the Program

I am going to grade the state of programs. Like where a program is now and where it is heading. Since this is based on mostly opinion, if not all, it should be interesting to see where you guys come in on this…

Alabama – A+ I want to say that Saban is doing something dirty up in T-town and that they will be back on probation in 3 or 4 years, but nothing in his past would suggest such. I also would like to say that I don’t think he will be there in 5 years but after the ND job came open (ND paid out more than Saban is currently making now) and not even a rumor came up about Saban even being interested, I guess I cant even say that anymore. Maybe its time that we (I) just accept the fact that he is just that good. I may not like him. I may think he is the anti-Christ, but absoulty nothing suggest anything other Saban in T-Town and Bama in the SEC championship regularly. Keep in mind, we are just now getting to the players that Saban recruited. He has had back to back undefeated regular seasons with Shula’s guys…

Auburn – B- The tigers are on their way back up. With a great recruiting class and an energized coaching staff, things are looking up for the Tigers. Here is what they got going against them… Right now the cupboard is pretty bare. And by the time the coaching staff can get a deep enough team to compete in the SEC then Malzone will be accepting a Head Coaching job somewhere else. That will be devastating to the program. After Chizik fails on his next Coordinator hire and the Tigers drop off on offense then Chizik will be replaced and who ever comes in will have a much much more talented team. Auburn is 7 years out from competing for an SEC title.

Tennessee – C- Alright, I love the fact that the Vols got Dooley but lets be honest here… The program is in pretty bad shape right now. Dooley will do good enough to go 7-6 maybe 8-5 and in 3 or 4 years the Vols will be looking for another Head Coach. This time the timing will be better and they will get a proven Coach that will carry the program back to where it belongs.

Georgia – B+ Two words… Todd Grantham. Anybody who pays attention saw that Ga can score points. Bobo is growing into a pretty damn good offensive coordinator but the Dawgs cant stop anybody. Well see if Grantham is worth 750K a year and if the Dawgs are competing for a SEC title or if Richt is on his way out. If Grantham doesn’t work out then the Dawgs could be in bad trouble.

LSU – C+ Les Miles is being exposed as not a good in game coach. The guy can recruit like hell but it just seems like when the game is on the line that your waiting for Miles to screw up instead of man up. How far will LSU have to drop before they make a switch will determine how long LSU stays a C+

Florida – A I’m not sure if I’m just hoping but something is going on down in the swamp. Meyer takes a leave and then the next day says he will be coaching this year.. this is after he loses Strong to Louy. Then he hires Edwards and then Edwards leaves for the Bills a month later. Like I say, maybe I’m just hoping.. but with UT down, and Fla having to play Bama in T-town this year.. Ga has a good west schedule.. maybe the Gayterds don’t make it back to Atlanta. BUT!! As long as Meyer is on the side lines, you have to give them a A.

(for reese cup)
Georgia Tech – C- Anytime a team can get a couple of weeks to prepare for the triple option they normally shut it down. Paul Johnson is a great coach, but I need to see a little more before I give Tech a B. this year was one of the Dawg’s worse years on defense and they shut PJ down. If you cant beat your in state rival when they are down then you damn sure cant beat them when they are up.

QB'S in the SEC

I read an article in the chattanooga times free press this morning about qb's in the SEC... you can read it HERE i got the link from senator blutarsky's blog GET THE PICTURE one of my favorite blogs on the web, other than southern fried shit. alright, so now that i have given credit to where i got the inspiration and most of the data for this article(since im a journalist now i have to respect my peers and give them credit)lets get on to the story..

Here is how i see the SEC lining up in the QB position...

#1 Arkansas - Mallet is obviously the most talented QB in the SEC. i dont think i should get any arguments here
#2 Alabama - really its a no brainer at #2. i mean the guy has a NC ring on his hand and in my mind, should have gotten the MVP of the SEC championship game.
Here is where it starts to get interesting...
#3 Florida - How can i put a 1st year starter over some returning starters?
#4 USC - I think Garcia will get a lot better this year. he is smart and has a great head coach that i think has groomed him and he has potential to have a break out year... or he may look like he did against uconn
#5 LSU - Jesus! how in the hell do i have Jordan Jefferson at #5???
#6 Auburn - I'm going out a limb here and picking Cam Newton (or lab top)
#7 Kentucky - Hartline is back and is a pretty consistest QB but nothing special
#8 Georgia - not because im a homer.. and really not because i think the QB battle is better than the ones under here.. really because i think GA's offensive line is better than the remaining teams that dont know who their QB will be. thats fair. isnt it?
#9 Mississippi State - Chris Relf looked good against Ol Miss last year and with Dan Mullin.. im almost tempted in moving Miss ST up a couple of notches.
#10 Vandy - Jordan Rodgers is Arron Rodgers' brother. i didnt know this. but now that i do i cant put them at the bottom
#11 Ol Miss - Nathan Stanley and Raymon cotton have never came out of my mouth before and i know nothing about them. i do know that jevan sneed was a very talented QB and Nutt helped him look like shit so imagine what they will do with a new guy
#12 Tennessee - I'm sorry rusty. its not personal, UT has a 3 way battle for the QB spot and the program is on its 3rd Head Coach in 3 years.. that normally doesnt fair will for a rookie QB.

Huh?

Today on the Bleacher Report, their are some interesting things about the SEC... Here are some quotes from the article that was about if the SEC is getting boring because of it being so top heavy with Florida and Alabama. give me your thoughts.

Mark Richt doesn't have the talent or the drive to overtake Florida this year. He and the dogs seem content to simply have "Winning seasons" and bowl games and some are wondering where the hunger is on this team.

Tennessee is still rebuilding and changing regimes yet again. This is the third coach in three years and that can't translate into a big season in anyone's book.

Auburn? Please folks, did you miss the late season melt down? If anyone thinks one recruiting class makes a difference in one year, change your diaper and quit getting fairy tales read to you. While they may be improving, they're not in Alabama's league yet.

I dont know about you guys but the SEC is all but boring to me. While we had a rematch in the SEC championship game we still had extremly close games through out the year. I understand that Florida and Bama are the favorites to play for it again this year but "boring"? really? was watching Bama having to block a field goal in the final seconds to beat UT boring? and that same evening watching Florida struggle at Mississippi State, was that boring? and that was just one day in the SEC. evey conference game Bama played last year they were a favorite to win and my close friend jody who is a ridiculous bama fan knew that no matter who they were playing that Bama better be ready because anybody in the SEC can beat anybody else. and as long as we have that, then, to quote yoda... boring the SEC is not.

Odds to win 2011 Super bowl

the odds to win next year's super bowl are out and i got 2 that look pretty good. PAT's are at 10:1 and the Giants are at 30:1. 30:1 sounds pretty damn strong. check the odds out and let me know what you guys think are the best bets. the link is HERE

Ok Ok Ok

The super bowl was good, real good. Brees did a great job. Great story. Katrina was repaired. A franchise was fixed. blah blah blah blah...

Georgia hired the 3rd final coach from Vandy. he was the LB's coach their and more importantly he was the recruiting coordinator. Now i know that Vandy doesnt top the head lines with 5star guys year in and year out but it appears from the outside (and i couldnt be any further outside) that CMR is putting together a pretty damn good staff. after watching that super bowl and seeing a 3-4 totally screw up the best QB in the league was fun. I got a good feeling about this year...

sorry for the lack of post recently. i promise to get some new shit for you soon.

The Skinny on UGA's class of 2010

Ok, so UGA limped to the recruiting finish line this year. The most disappointing part of the day (which most of us knew was coming) happened at 9:45am when the top player in the state Da'Rick Rogers confirmed reports and sent his LOI to the University of Tennessee. I really think Rogers will make an immediate impact at the collegiate level and this one hurts. Physically, the guy could step on the field on Sunday's at age 18. Mentally, I'm not so sure. The last I heard he still hadn't achieved a qualifying SAT score. I'm sure Tennessee will find a way to get him enrolled, but if they don't, this one may not be over guys. The whole thing smells fishy and if it were Lane Kiffin instead of Derrick Dooley, I'd be convinced that something was up. Basically Tennessee offered Rogers' best friend and QB Nash Nance a scholarship two weeks ago hoping Rogers would follow him. Nance's dad if extremely close to Rogers and a father figure type. In my opinion, he used Rogers to improve the level of school his son would get an offer too. Nance will never touch the field at Tennessee. Anyway, enough about DR. We had two other long time commitments de-commit this past week as well. Deon Rogers and Nickell Robey both backed out of their commitments and are headed to Louisville and USC respectively. Rogers is a 3* LB and Robey is a 4* CB. These guys were never "solid" commits though and we anticipated them changing when Willie was fired. On to the good news, Alec Ogletree, Garrison Smith, TJ Stripling, Brent Benedict among others are now Dawgs. We didn't just try and fill up the class with second tier guys once players started backing out. This opens us up for a full class next year, which we haven't had in several years. One of my favorite dawgs already is Kenarious Gates. He was only offered on Monday night and he immediately switched his commitment from Kentucky to his "dream school". He is a 6-5" 300lb offensive lineman with good feet and good smarts. The story I read about him talked a lot about how he loves UGA and is grateful to have a chance to play for his home state Bulldawgs. I love this kind of kid. We had two surprises go our way today in Michael Thornton, a 4* DT that will probably play the nose position in the 3-4 and an unranked 6-6 WR named Lonnie Outlaw. This guy is a "sign and place" kid that will play for GMC and get his grades in order. The good thing about him is that he is Nick Marshall's (2011 QB already offered) cousin and they are very close. That's a quick recap of UGA's signing day coverage. Go Dawgs!!!

Speak up

I will be counting on our recruiting insiders John and Brad to bring us their overall perspectives on how this years recruiting ended up.

Glad you guys made it for the first time.......but now the honeymoon is over!

Don't get me wrong I like the Saints and Drew Breeeeeeeez almost as much as I like Payton Manning, I would be happy with either team winning this game. With that being said, here are the reasons the Colts will win. Before we get to the on the field stuff let's just pretend that both teams are equal at every position.

Off the field tale of the tape

1. The Saints at the beginning of the season set their goal to be IN the Super Bowl. Since the NFC Championship game they have been celebrating like they are the world champs. I cannot imagine how hard it is to work all season long to accomplish your goal and then after you accomplish it turn around and set a new one with two weeks to build the same motivation that is required to win the Super Bowl.

2. Everyone loves the story of how the city of New Orleans has rallied around the Saints, I will admit it is a good story, BUT that was over 4 years ago how long is a team supposed carry their fans before the debt is re payed, it is added pressure that the Saints surely don't need. "Win one for the Gipper" would not have meant as much if they would have told Sayers that for four years in a row.

On the field

1. The Colts are short handed without Dwight Freeny (we all know what he can do) and Jerrad Powers who started at corner all year but did not play in the Championship game ( the reason Braylon had a walk in touch down on a backup CB) I will admit their D is looking not too hot. But they are still better than the Saints D. The Saints have relied heavily on turnovers all year, a category which they were in the top teams in the league, despite that their defense is still ranked 25th. So I think Colts still have the edge on D because with Payton not turning the ball over it will be a long day for them.

2. Both teams seem to have an equally explosive offense but this is not the case. The saints rely on long down field passes and swing passes but do not have much of a passing for a 3rd 8 type situation with most their passes being 12 yards or more I suspect the Colts ( especially if Powers plays) will keep everything in front of them, and have LB's that are athletic enough not to let the swing passes eat them up. True the Saints have a better running game but it is not better than the Jets or Ravens and the Colts shut both of them down. And don't try to tell me well the Saints shut down AP because they did not he had huge game despite his 3 fumbles. Manning on the other is a wizard behind the center. You never know where the ball is going and even if you get lucky before the snap and guess the right formation he will just see your linebacker smiling and change the play to go the other direction.

In summation

Colts 28 Saints 17

Super Bowl Week

Whats up people? its super bowl week and we got to figure out whats going to happen. i have been looking at several different things. the thing im looking at right now is when these 2 teams play a team that is ranked in the top 5 in passing offense, and the colts have played 3 teams ranked in the top 5. Houston twice, and New England. in these games the defense of the colts have given up an average of 356 yards in the air and 26 points. all 3 of these games the colts had dwight freeney, one of the best pass rushers in the game. i would have to think that the colts' defense is not going to be as good when the ball is in the air with out freeney rushing the passer. so now we are giving brees extra time to throw the ball against a team that gives up 350+ passing yards when playing the best passing teams. now the saints have only played a top 5 passing team once this year, the pats. brady only had 237 yards and the pats only scored 17 points. it was the 4th best job the saints did on defense this year and it was against one of the best passing teams and qb's. so what i got from this is that the saints defense do better against better passing teams. combine that with the fact that freeney is out (im assuming he is going to be out) and i have to give the edge to the saints on defense in this game.

offense and special teams report to come... also a report on the "if" factor.
